Royal Son Bou Family Club

We’ve just come back from a wonderful week at the Royal Son Bou with our little boy. It was our first holiday as a family of 3 and it was perfect. If you have a young child this is the place for you! Pros - Food - the food was amazing. The themes were great and we never had a bad meal. We went half board and visited restaurants outside for lunch which were also all fab! - Location - such a great location particularly with a toddler. It’s just 20 mins from airport, the beach is a 2 minute walk away and there’s a supermarket just outside to get all you need! - Beach is sand and so pretty! They also have a crate to share toys for the beach and pool so don’t worry bringing too much with you! - Baby friendly - this place couldn’t have been more perfect for our 18m old. The baby pool was great, a dedicated kids club with outdoor and indoor activities, they provided a highchair, cot, purées even a car transfer with car seat from the airport. The kids club had lots of activities on throughout the day and you could even leave your children with them to mind although we never tried this. They also have a child buffet with cutlery, plates and cups. Toddler seats at dinner provided too. - Our room was a great location and very clean. We were next to the kids club so it was perfect with no noise when our toddler was napping or sleeping at night. - Air con was great! We left our keycard in to keep the room cool and fridge operating. Cons (with us being very fussy!) - Our room was on the 2nd floor with no lift which was tough with a toddler, stroller and all their gear. But we got some exercise in! I’d recommend asking for ground floor if you have a little one just to make life a bit easier. The rest of the resort is pram friendly. - we chose a balcony sea view so we could enjoy whilst our toddler napped but it was far too hot to sit out with no shade so we didn’t really use it unless we wanted to dry our clothes so wouldn’t have bothered. - the pools are quite cold. They do get warmer in the afternoon when the sun has been on them. Our toddler didn’t love it at first but most kids didn’t seem to mind! Not a dealbreaker though! - our main bed was a twin of two single beds which was very annoying. The beds would move and our toddler kept falling down the middle when sitting with us. - The bathroom can get very slippy and there was no lock on the door so our toddler kept running in and slipping. We put down some towels and closed our bedroom door when we could but worth being aware of! Again, not loads the hotel can do about it just be cautious Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would visit again. I’d highly recommend for anyone travelling with small children!

We’ve just returned from an amazing week at Royal Son Bou with our two children (aged 12 and 9), and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. Although we didn’t use the children’s club, we all got involved in the fantastic water activities — aqua gym, water basket, and water polo — which kept us active and entertained throughout the day. Our kids made lots of new friends and loved the evening entertainment, as well as the table tennis and pool table. We really enjoyed the all-inclusive restaurant and the great selection of cocktails. There were plenty of snacks available throughout the day, and we never had any trouble finding a sunbed — most guests respected the no-reserving rule, which was great. The beach nearby was perfect for snorkelling — clear water and very safe for kids. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Guest Services for assisting us with a lovely day out in Mahón, where we took the local bus, enjoyed a scenic boat tour of the harbour, and visited the local market. Our pool-view apartment was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Overall, it was a brilliant holiday. The resort is peaceful, family-friendly, and well-suited for all ages. We would definitely recommend it and would love to return!

Staff and food were amazing ! 3 negatives : price was too high for the room. Like sleeping next to a concert arena - baseline booming every night from the hotel next door. Parking a rental car was a nightmare

We had a fantastic stay at Royale Son Bou Hotel. The all-inclusive food was excellent with plenty of variety, and the evening entertainment was always fun and engaging. Daytimes were just as good, with great activities like water polo and dance classes, while the hotel itself was spotless thanks to the daily room turnarounds. The staff really made the difference — we even saw one bar staff member go out of their way to make a young child’s holiday magical after he dropped his drink, which summed up the caring atmosphere throughout the hotel. Overall, a brilliant holiday and we would happily recommend Royale Son Bou Hotel to anyone!

The location was excellent, with very easy access to the beach directly from the hotel, which made our stay much more convenient and enjoyable. The breakfast and dinner were tasty and offered a good variety of options to eat, and the swimming pools were clean, fun, and well-maintained, providing great moments of relaxation for both adults and children.

On the negative side, the meal times could be better, as they started quite late, which was sometimes inconvenient, especially for families with young children. Another point that could be improved is the air conditioning: in our apartment it was only available in the living room and not in the bedroom, which made sleeping less comfortable on warmer nights.

Just returned from a week all inclusive here after reading the reviews (and doing a lot of research of many different hotels and resorts), and it really lived up to my high expectations! A real gem of a hotel and place. All around, the views were lovely. The area and the hotel were a lovely mix of peaceful and lively at the same time. Despite the hotel being full of families with children, it didn’t feel crazy at all. And I think that’s because the children are kept so busy by the all the fantastic facilities. Everyone is so well catered for and the all the holidaying families seemed very respectful of others. The whole place felt very safe and secure. I am shocked by the one negative review I have just read; I loved the wine and there was nothing wrong with the cocktails or the service. In fact, the service was exceptional. All staff were very attentive, friendly and hard-working. We had no trouble getting a sun bed at all, or any trouble with any noise or anything else! The hotel feels very well loved. They have literally thought of everything, and should be so proud of what they have created! Honestly, a real gem! Well done to all at Royal Son about Family Club! I was continually impressed. The tunnel leading down to the beach, the crèche and the kids club, the meal time play area, the food, the cleanliness of the place, just everything!! The single only picky point I could make (and it’s been said a few times) is the dated room decor, but that didn’t bother us one bit because we were too busy having fun in the pool, relaxing, stuffing our faces and making use of all the entertainment! The app was very useful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone with children. I would say for children age 3-7, with Kikoland, it’s a holiday of a life time! My children are 2 and 9 and they had the time of their lives. Would definitely return! BOOK NOW!!

Just returned from a week at Royal Son Bou with my husband and kids aged 13 and 3. After the glowing reviews I was expecting big things and wasn’t disappointed. Transfer from the airport was super quick and check in was straightforward. The room was a Hooky pool view apartment on the first floor which suited us well. We got the view you don’t get with a ground floor apartment but the second floor would have been too many stairs for us with the buggy. Rooms were clean, functional and spacious with convenient access to the pool if you need to nip back during the day. The only issue was that the TV only had Spanish channels and the WiFi was patchy so if we wanted downtime in the room for our toddler there wasn’t much for her to do. Speaking of the kids, I have to mention Kikoland. I’ve never stayed at a hotel with such a fabulous facility for kids of all ages. There was always something going on and we visited daily. You can stay with your kids or sign them in and leave them. We always stayed but the staff are super friendly and amazing with the kids. My daughter loved playing, colouring, soft play and taking part in the games there and my older child made good use of the football pitch next to Kikoland. We did the pony trekking which you do need to book in advance as I believe it gets booked up quickly and wear decent shoes as you are going up the mountain! Activities for adults were also good. I enjoyed yoga on the beach and aquafit (special shout out to Rosa who had amazing energy!) Food was excellent and varied with good theme nights. We went half board and ate is Los Olivos but we also picked up a ‘lunch box’ a couple of times where you can fill a small cardboard box up with food from the buffet for about 7 euros. Was a little disappointed to find that wine and soft drinks weren’t included with dinner on half board - I’ve been to other Spanish resorts where this was included and it did incur us a few unexpected costs. There is a handy play area next to the restaurant which is a great idea - we often used it after my toddler had eaten and was getting bored at the table. You can just drop them in while you finish eating. Perfect! Entertainment was a little hit and miss (loved the limbo dancers but the musical nights weren’t as good) and the outdoor entertainment area was under a canopy which got swelteringly hot but the table service and kids disco was good. Pool facilities fab and clean. There was a brilliant pool party one afternoon with inflatables, music and games. There’s also a separate kids pool but these are not located together so you may spend time apart if you have kids of different ages. The beautiful beach is a stone throw away from the hotel but it does get crowded. There are a couple of supermarkets across the road and a few more shops the next street on but other than that there wasn’t a lot in the general area. This suited us because it was so hot when we visited (temperatures up to 38 one day!) so we were happy to stay around the pool but if we went again I’d probably like to see a bit more of the island. Overall we had a really good time and I really think this place is a complete haven for families with young kids. Small things like the staff remembering your child’s name make a big impression and I would definitely return here.

Staff very friendly, amazing food, plenty of entertainment options, just a small walk to the beach... everything was perfect!
