The view from the room was beautiful, the room itself was great, the hotel was very clean, there was a bar which was nice to have. There is a restaurant but we did not eat there. We were only here for one night and there is a little parking lot.

We were very disappointed that the booking listing said that there was live traditional music. This was the main reason we booked this place. The room was more expensive than we wanted to pay but we made an exception for the live traditional music. When we brought this to the attention of the staff they said oh weird we don't know why it would say that. There was no other recommendations for music nearby or any additional discussion when I explained this was the major selling point for us.

We had an evening meal that was very good

We stayed inn13 different properties during a 4 week trip around Scotland. Cottages, B&Bs, Hotels and a Castle. This was by far the most expensive and the worst experience. We booked a "Garden View" room. The garden was a campsite! Immediately out side the widow was two blokes camping in their car, sat at a table watching everything that we did. The window was full length glass doors to a Juliet balcony with a glass barrier. There was full length curtains but no net curtains so, you can have light and no privacy or privacy and darkness. As this is a 4 star hotel, instead of a kettle in the room there was a fancy coffee machine which does not produce boiling water to make a proper cup of tea. Breakfast was not included in the price of the room so, as there was nowhere else to eat we paid for breakfast. At a 4 star hotel I expect table service. This was a self service buffet and instead of having a member of staff keeping the food well stocked a waitress would appear occasionally and finding something had run out they would wander off and cook some more so everything was lukewarm. the whole meal was poor.

The car park was being relaid so no parking next to hotel, next we entered the really hot and airless reception area to be told that dogs are not allowed at the hotel and so we couldn’t stay and nor did they offer a refund. All in all a horrible experience - I wouldn’t have minded as mistakes happen it was the way we were treated by the receptionist - no human interaction just repeating company policy.
