"Good for short stay"

7.0

Great location to walks, aquarium and bars. Small and compact, had what you needed, liked having keyless entry.

Didn't like the app/website links after using booking.com. Was cold, radiators didn't help too much. Was quite dusty and needed a hoover. Sofa & bed ok for 2 nights but not comfy enough to stay longer.

The duplex is good but could be amazing with a little effort. It could benefit from a little TLC around the edges but of course then they’d have to charge more so maybe keep as it is. Right in the centre of the Barbican surrounded by restaurants, takeaways, bars and lots and lots of history. Communication was excellent as always. I’ll be back!

"Avoid this and other properties managed by Pureserviced."

1.0

Unfortunately, not much to like about my experience. The location was good.

Short review: the flat was completely uninhabitable for about 24h, 1/3rd of my booking, as it was handed over unheated, and they could not heat it until the next day. The entire flat was at 10-13 degrees! At the same time, no refund or real apology was offered for the inconvenience. Longer version: avoid all properties managed by PureServiced, they do not have customer satisfaction as a priority, only money. The managers were completely unreachable throughout the duration of my stay, even though this was an emergency, as the reception team have no real authority to discuss the management and payment of the booking, yet, at the same time, they will not allow you to contact a manager. When pressed, they offered an email address which was just a hello@ as the manager contact. The email I sent to that address was never answered. When checking into the property at 3pm, the heating was off, and the entire flat was at 10 degrees. They were contacted immediately, and they sent someone at some point later to have a look. By that time, I had stepped out, but I was contacted to say it was sorted. When I returned to the property at 2am, it turned out the issue was not resolved, and the rooms were at 11-13 degrees. I had to sleep in the frozen bedroom as nobody would be contactable at that time. The next day, it took them until midday to bring some heaters in after I complained via Booking.com. At the same time, any real attempts by myself and the booking.com team to contact the managers, not reception, were completely blocked. When asking to check out and be refunded so I can book a hotel that can actually give me a heated room and bathroom, I was simply told that I can check out but I will not be refunded since they brought in some heaters now (almost 24h later). The negatives from the other reviews on here still stand: cold unheated flat, mould in the bathroom, not very clean, unprofessional management co.

"It’s an ideal spot for an overnight stay, comfortable and clean"

Perfect size for a stop over, well appointed and the location is perfect

There is a bit of a funky smell in the stairwell and it did have a slight musty aroma in the apartment at first but it’s an old building so half expect it.

Lovely place in a great location on the Barbican. The staff were amazing when checking me at their main hotel and even gave me a lift because the weather was so awful, which I really appreciated.

I found the place a bit cold (weather was awful though), and the double bed mattress felt old and springy, so due a replacement maybe. Having to go to their hotel first to check-in is a bit inconvenient, especially with walking as they are not very close to each other.

"Very nice, but marred by poor care re equipment & poor communication - which would be easy to fix."

6.0

Location is great for the Barbican shops, pubs, harbour, walking to the Hoe etc, and the apartment was nice, and comfortable, and cosy (once the final heater was beaten into submission) - anticipated this as we have stayed here before quite often some time ago - in various of the flats in the White Lane building.

The kitchen was poorly equipped re kitchenware/cookware - for eg 1 teaspoon, 3 knives, 3 forks, nothing for the oven apart from a loaf tin (no baking sheet for pizza/pastries), no cafetiere or coffee maker. Glad I took my own cheese grater in case there wasn't one, and lucky there were only 2 of us. These apartments used to be better on china, glassware, kitchen implements, but its as if there has been an erosion over time with no care re replacements, and a dumping of quite unuseful things. Only 1 bedside lamp, though 2 in advert photo, which is probably the same malaise. Also very frustrating was the mismatch in info re checking in - per Booking.com it was do online procedure (which was not simple) and get codes sent on completion, but on emails from Pureserviced it wanted the online but also went on about picking up keys, and they answered none of my messages (3) asking for clarity on this on the Booking.com Messages. I had to ring them up. They answered promptly during the visit to emails to 'hello@pureserviced.com', but this did not help me in advance of arrival when I wanted to be sure how to get into the flat when we got to Plymouth and I was using Booking.com messages - which generally works very well with other bookings I've made through Booking.com.
