Spire View at THE GALLEON RESTAURANT

Lovely staff and a very comfortable and spotless room and en suite. My only issue was with the breakfast facilities and lay out. Far too cramped and looked like someone had just said, "That will just have to do". With a huge dining room downstairs, this breakfast area was a best, disappointing and at worst, dreadful. Which is a shame, because the room was outstanding. Oh while I'm here, the outside metal stairs were really steep bloody dangerous and I'm astounded that they pass any kind of health and safety inspection. No one was around in the morning, so I had to use the outside stairs whilst trying to carry a suitcase and trying to keep my balance. Considering the price, it wasn't a great experience.

See above. Liked the staff. Loved the room. The rest wasn't anywhere near good enough and the outside stairs were downright dangerous. How anyone thinks this is acceptable is beyond belief.

I can’t recommend this hotel enough. We arrived from our flight about 3 hours before check-in but the staff/ management were so friendly and allowed us to leave our bags while we went off for a wander. Later that evening we all went back to the hotel where we were shown our rooms and explained how things work in the morning (breakfast set up, how to access the building after hours, etc.). Michelle the manager couldn’t have been nicer or more welcoming. There was about 15 of my family in Chesterfield for the night for a family funeral. We never made a booking at the Galleon for dinner but everyone just navigated there (although some were staying in the sister hotel while others were in different hotels in the town). We didn’t have a booking but that didn’t stop them accommodating us. Finnley was unbelievable and well able to handle our loud, Irish family get together. The food was delicious and everything cooked to perfection. When I made the booking I forgot to mention that some of us are coeliac and Michelle and the accommodation assistant ensured that there was gluten free bread and options for the continental breakfast in the morning. Everyone went above and beyond for us, thanks so much to everyone in the Spire View at the Galleon!

Excellent room, very spacious and clean.

Breakfast was awful. I didn't check the smallprint and expected a hot breakfast, however it was a small continental one.

Beautiful big bedroom, and extremely clean and welcoming.
