Sherman Inn

The property is very unique with it having been a school at one time. They keep a lot of the school nostalgia while also having made the rooms very comfortable and well thought out! They were just getting the Christmas decorations out so it seemed a bit unorganized in the reception area but I am assuming that was a temporary situation! The breakfast in the morning was very good and sharing a table with the other guests was very enjoyable and homey! I loved the history of the building and the owners are very knowledgeable and extremely friendly! I will definitely stay again if I need a place in Ogdensburg!!

I would say my only criticism was the bit of disorganized nature of the reception area. But I believe that was due to the on going Christmas decorating happening!! Also the room was a little warmer than I like so I would suggest you bring a fan if you are a cool room sleeper like me because you can not control the temperature in the room!

From start to finish, everything was seamless—booking, communication, and finding the location were all effortless. Donna and Jim Reagen are a warm, welcoming couple who not only provide top-tier hospitality but also share fascinating stories about the building’s history and the surrounding area. The room we stayed in was spacious, cozy, and full of charm—it felt like a home away from home. The fact that the inn was once an elementary school adds a unique and delightful character to the experience. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Donna’s cooking is outstanding, and Jim’s service, wit, and kindness made each morning feel special. Their teamwork is a winning combination that truly sets this place apart. Our son attends Clarkson University, which is just a 25-minute drive away. Despite the short commute, the Sherman Inn felt like a peaceful retreat and was well worth the drive. I especially enjoyed wandering through the building, reading old articles, and admiring the historic photos. It was a renovated school house! Our room was spacious and very homey!! We were greeted by the owner and given a tour!! Loved the atmosphere! We weren't able to stay for the breakfast, sadly, but the table had been set for us!! We felt bad not staying for that, after the owner had spent time preparing it for us!! The beds were also very comfortable!

Everything was liked!! No complaints. Would stay there again!!

It was amazing the way it was switched over from school to in. It was perfect. It was definitely a bed-and-breakfast. The rooms were absolutely huge like three times the size of a normal hotel room decorated beautifully.

I unfortunately didn’t see that it was non-handicap accessible and I do have an issue with my back so the stairs were a little bit of a problem for me so we kept it once we went down we stayed down and then we came back up to to limit the amount of times I had to go up and down the stairs, but other than that, it was not really that big of

Donna and Jim were AWESOME hosts!! We stumbled upon the Sherman Inn by accident on a road trip portion of our vacation.....wasn't sure where we were staying that evening as we only made it to Ogdensburg. What a treasure!! Folks...you have done a wonderful job with Jim's elementary school! Very highly recommended for anyone staying in the area!!

The Sherman Inn was delightful. Jim and Donna are kind, accommodating hosts. The building is a renovated elementary school, tastefully updated, with enormous guest rooms. Ogensburg is a charming and interesting city, and as natives, Jim and Donna do a wonderful introduction to it. I arrived having made my reservation for the worng date; Jim and Donna cheerfully adjusted it.

The Sherman Inn was incredible, Jim, the owner, gave us a tour of the old “school building” when we got there, so much history in the building, every room was spectacular!! His wife Donna cooked an amazing breakfast, and she was also behind the decor of all the room's. Will definitely stay again !!

Everything was great.

The location is perfect - within walking distance to restaurants and all the attractions the town has to offer. The staff was very cordial. The room was very spacious and quiet with a nice, comfy bed. The breakfast was great with a variety of fresh berries. Overall, it's a very relaxing, charming, super clean, and well-maintained inn. I'll definitely stay there again.

This was such a memorable experience. To stay in a renovated classroom with the Principle’s office across the hall was so awesome! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Thx again for opening your b&b to us
