Awesome all around

What a wonderful experience my daughter and I had while our stay here. When Jim showed us our room I thought it was the “ show room” and that then he would take us to our real room. When I said this to Jim he jokingly opened the closet and said that was our room. Our room was amazing. Very spacious with two comfortable double beds, a sitting area with a couch, chairs and a tv. Likewise, the bathroom was spacious and included all the amenities. Donna and Jim both are very personable and their service was impeccable. Jim was a wealth of knowledge about local history which answered some questions for us that we were searching for. We, like others, enjoyed the home cooked breakfast in the morning and enjoyed visiting with the other guests. The Sherman Inn is also within walking distance to several restaurants. We enjoyed a walk along the water and then took the pedestrian bridge to Hosmer’s Marina for dinner. Jim even said he’d come get us if we didn’t want to walk home in the dark. Thankfully we were through with our meal and out of the restaurant before dark but if not we just might have taken him up on that offer. Thank you Donna and Jim for a great stay. I hope to be back one day!

We recently spent 2 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This place is located in a former elementary school. It features very large rooms, nice beds, and lots of sitting space. Each room is named after a US President who visited Ogdensburg, though 2 of the 9 only got janitorial closets for dissing the town. We had the FDR room, which had a lot of info on FDR. Near our room was the kitchen, with ice and a snack bin with sweet and salty treats! The 2 breakfasts we had were great and served in a nice dining area. It was fun to talk to the other guests. The staff were very helpful. Parking was plentiful. The former gym at the school is now a play area for kids, very well-done. At night, lights come on outside when there is movement, so you can better see strangers out there. Not many negatives. If you want breakfast, you do have to have it from 8:30-9:00. Also, the shower was small and not well lit. I do feel this place is a MUST DO location.

Eine außergewöhnliche, sehr liebevoll an der amerikanischen Geschichte orientiert ausgestattete Unterkunft. Sehr sauber und mit tollem hausgemachtem Frühstück, das lecker schmeckte. Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Sehr zu empfehlen.

What a novel, wonderful experience! Large room, wonderful hosts, delicious food, and such a unique place. Some history, nostalgia and nice folks staying there.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Sherman Inn. I was excited to visit as I taught there in 2013. My husband was excited for a unique historical stay. The hosts were beyond thoughtful and sweet. We loved having a tour of the building and a delicious breakfast in the morning. My husband said it was the most comfortable mattress he's slept on at a hotel and the rooms are so spacious. We unfortunately didn’t have time to enjoy the firepit. The Halloween and fall decorations were gorgeous, I'd love to see the inn decorated for Christmas. Or maybe we will come back in the summer for the pool! We had a great stay and it was also a great price!

What a fabulous stay! The Sherman Inn was absolutely incredible - huge room (complete with Netflix on the TV), wonderful hosts, amazing breakfast, and the entire space so tastefully and historically maintained. We are now spoiled for all other hotels. Stay here - you'll love it!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Sherman Inn - a very unique building and use of space. We talked to many locals that attended school there "back in the day"!

Interesting setting in a repurposed school building. The rooms are huge, the hosts are great and the breakfasts [we stayed 2 nights] were awesome!
