Lakeside Backpackers

Fantastic location, close enough to walk into town and to access all activities. Great views. Bed was comfortable and showers were hot with good water pressure.

Old building, poor maintenance, poor standard of cleaning, poor security. Old bunks - impossible for anyone to get down from top one without waking whole room.

You get what you pay for - cheap and nasty. Bed was comfortable though and location is amazing.

Only the location very close to lake view and town centre

Room was very smelly and dirty, very old carpet, walls were peeling off paint, toilets and shower were in bad condition, no cleanliness in kitchen, common area . I felt like living in a one of old rundown place in my entire life . No safety rails on the top bed , no fire alarm, it is unsafe to live . I don’t know how council give permission to run backpacker.

The only positive was a good location with a wonderful view , if you could see the view out of the dirty windows . Close to the bus to the airport. Though not a high price for the very basic private room , the unclean and low maintenance of the property , did not make it value for money

Everything ! The check in time was late at 3pm but our room was not cleaned till 4pm and a very basic clean . We had to remind the manager to have the room cleaned and infact the whole property needed a thorough clean . One of the other guests informed me that if we had not requested all the facilities to be cleaned , it wouldn't have been done. The room was very basic and all the facilities need a thorough clean with some major maintenance required e.g the shower areas needed replacing with bits peeling off .The worse New Zealanders backpackers I have stayed in
