Libelula Tulum Beachfront Hotel

Great place, directly on the beach in a very intimate environment outside (but close to) the busy Tulum touristic area. Hotel is actually located inside the reserve Sian Ka'an. Staff is super caring and friendly. You can get delicious drinks/cocktails and the meals we had there were one of the best we got in 2 weeks in the Yucatan peninsula. Last but not least, we could sea sea turtles laying eggs in the moonlight on the beach in front of the hotel and see help baby turtles getting to the sea. Fantastic experience.

This was a really special one. The experience of going to sleep to the sound of the ocean waves in unparalleled. Everyone working at Libelula is extremely professional and kind, doing everything to make you feel like you're part of a community. On our second day there, we decided to drop all our plans and spend the whole day between our room and the beach.

It's definitely not cheap, but it seems like all of Tulum is at this price level. Libelula is 100% worth it if you're looking for a laid back experience that will make you feel at ease. If you're looking for a more polished experience, this might not be it.

Il Libelula è un angolo di paradiso immerso in una riserva naturale in cui poter convivere con la fauna e la flora in perfetto equilibrio. Le camere sono spaziose e ben disegnate, la cucina è autentica e di altissimo livello, lo staff incredibilmente a vostra disposizione per qualsiasi necessità e di ottima compagnia. La spiaggia e il mare sono da Caraibi. Il glamping nasconde un sacco di sorprese magnifiche: dalle tartarughe la notte che vanno a depositare le uova sulla spiaggia, a una cenote a qualche metro di distanza super riservata, dagli animali che fanno comparsa come coatí, procioni, iguana, granchi, uccelli di ogni specie, e altro ancora.

This is the place to stay if you are looking to disconnect and recharge. It is located in the Sian Ka An Reserve and about 1-2 miles away from the upscale restaurants and nightlife. There are bikes on site that we used when we ventured out. Armando went above and beyond to make this a great stay. From making restaurant recommendations and dishes to try to providing transportation, he really treated us like VIP’s!

The atmosphere was fantastic ! The manager Jorge is great at making you feel at home and making your day/evening! We truly enjoyed the evening talks - and we still listen to some of the songs that were played. The food was truly wonderful, and we loved each dish that we ordered. Lovely place at the beach!

It was great, but the bill in the end was also quite high (although it was absolutely worth ;) !). Free water would be nice, especially in the warm weather, the water that was provided was definitely not enough

The beach is stunning, the food is incredible, and the staff? They’re not just attentive, they’re real. Laid-back, warm, and genuinely kind, they make you feel like part of the family. But let me be clear: this isn’t luxury in the pampered, all-inclusive sense. This is escape. This is soul-rest. So don’t come with rigid expectations. Come if you want to disconnect from the world and reconnect with yourself. If you’re high-maintenance or looking for five-star polish, this probably isn’t your place. But if you’re craving peace, beauty, and real connection—welcome home.

An unusual experience thus an unusual review! The overwhelming positive of the “glamping experience” was the exceptional hospitality extended by Libélula’s Director Jorge de la Tijera, who blends kindness and personal interest with professional care. A once in a lifetime! The property - NOTE REMOTE - 15 minutes to town, taxis very expensive and not readily available. Rental car advisable. This said, idyllic if you are seeking that remote camp experience! Not a manicured property. 9 units- each one room with sleeping & bathroom contained. Toilet only partially partitioned from the bathroom area. Bed very comfortable. 3.5 / 5 The beach - 5/5 private, quiet vibe, great covered sunbeds, beach bar 👌 (sargassum was bad and made water access difficult) The food - delicious, expensive, portions often small, served “camp style”. It you’re seeking sophistication, this is not your ideal destination. The bar - 5/5 Samuel, the world class bartender. Really adds to the experience. Wellness programming - no yoga or meditation or massage - in this location, it would be a great asset to the experience. For us, a memorable stay! The positives outweighed the shortcomings. We shall return. If a remote glamping experience is what you’re seeking this is the perfect destination. Just be sure!
