Nijojo Taiken Inn

we had extremely disruptive guests staying at the same time as us (completely not the inns fault!!) which was unfortunate but the owner accommodated us and was very prompt in replying to us and helping us :)) super nice staff and very welcoming. the inn was also very cute and homey! great experience overall

The owner was very hospitable and friendly. The accommodation also had everything you needed and good transport into the city centre.

Unfortunately, it is nowhere mentioned that the shared laundry space is located IN YOUR PRIVATE BATHROOM. (If you book the quadruple room) In our case, we have had a group of 6 people stay in the facility next to us and they kept blocking us from using our shower. For example, one morning I wanted to shower but there was a girl from the other group in our bathroom even though the bathroom is labelled private. She also refused to leave when I told her I would like to shower and said i could just shower with her remaining in the bathroom. Just overall strange behaviour. I think we were just unlucky and I do realise it's not the owners fault. But this should be mentioned in the description. The people next to us were also very loud early in the morning and late at night which made our stay a little uncomfortable. Furthermore, if you book the quadruple room, please note that in order to access the bed you will need to take a staircase outside.

The room was nice traditional and big and everything was very comfortable and the staff was very helpful

Perfect place to stay in Kyoto, great location, comfortable and clean rooms :)

The staff was extremely nice, the rooms were good and the common room is great to relax and the location is good to easily reach some of the best things to see in Kyoto by bus

Nothing was disappointing

Good location - easy transport and near big supermarket. Walkable distance to Nijo Castle. Traditional stay, which was nice. Big bathroom compared to other places we stayed in.

Didn't like that the shared laundry was in our private bathroom and the shared dining space didn't have an area to easily dry washed up dishes. Had a bit of a run in with one of the neighbouring guests who invaded our space. They opened all the doors of our unit and peered in at us, took our clothes out of the washing machine and were super loud, despite signs to be quiet during certain times. I know this second point is not to do with the host, but it definitely brought down the experience.
