Hyatt House Carlsbad

The location is perfect for a trip to Carlsbad Caverns! It’s on the southwest side of Carlsbad so you miss all the stoplights and traffic of town. The hotel looks new and was very clean. Beds were so comfortable. The staff were all so nice, professional, and helpful. Would highly recommend this hotel! We wish we would have been able to stay longer.

We had a King Studio which was very spacious. There is a kitchen, living room area, bed and separate bathroom. There were a few small issues but that was nicely attended by the staff. For example, the bathroom sliding door wouldn't close because it was hanging crooked. That's a pitty for a relatively new hotel, but we understand they're going to do renovations. We had dinner at the hotel, nothing fancy but okay. Decor at the restaurant area is a bit sober. Breakfast was nice. But the point to improve is the plastic cutlery at breakfast! They are so thin and bendable, you can't really use them properly. It didn't fit the appear of the hotel. Hopefully they can upgrade this. We could recommend it. Especially for the big rooms.

Location, cleanliness, breakfast

Front desk employee. Upon checking-in, I was double charged for the room while I was expecting only deposit to be pulled out from my card. The front desk lady did not care and told me to call Booking.com. Booking told me that they sent an email to the hotel to confirm that they charged me at the front desk so that Booking.com could refund me the previous charge. The same front desk person still did not care, did not even try to check or reach out to someone who knows better. She was useless. After bunch of front desk visits, phone calls and emails, later while checking out, someone else was able to help and removed our card info for us to get a refund. Suggestion to management: train your employee to work a bit harder on an unfortunate situation that they caused. They should not be like: okay call them and handle it yourself, there is nothing I can do. Obviously 2 days later, her coworker proved that there was actually something a front desk person could do.

The staff was very friendly and attentive, made sure that we were pleased with our room. This appears to be a fairly new hotel, clean and modern. Excellent breakfast. Had we known that there was a restaurant/bar we would have taken advantage of it rather than finding a restaurant in town before going to the hotel. Would stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay, the room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed. However, our checkout experience was less than ideal. We had an early departure at 5:30am, and the night auditor appeared to have just woken up. She was wrapped in a blanket, seemed unprepared, and it took quite a while to process our checkout. The lack of professionalism made the experience feel awkward. Overall, the accommodations were great.

The hotel staff are exceptionally friendly! The hotel is clean and peaceful!
