OYO Hotel Salem-Roanoke I-81

This hotel looks NOTHING like the picture And is named the blue jay hotel NOT oyo … i thought we were in the wrong place!!! had the trip scheduled 2 weeks in advance when I show up they leave us in the cold saying they have no rooms available. We spent 20 mins looking for a new hotel the next group of people checking in checked in smoothly. The receptionist comes back and tells us all of a sudden a room is available then when we get it it looks terrible! What’s worse is we booked for 3 days on day 2 someone is banging on the door demanding us to check out. The worse experience ever!

0 hot water. Asked to check in at 1pm, told $10 extra per hour. Asked for a 2nd night at same rate, told "because it is 11am price will be different." Young lady and young man polite. Older man very unfriendly.

I was not able to check in at all. I arrived about 1:00 am after a football game at Va Tech. There was no one at the front desk. I rang the bell but no one came. I was not able to get into a room. Terrible check in system.

….Nothing…..

Rooms were dirty. Stains on the bed spreads. Bathrooms not clean. It was so bad we didn’t stay.

It doesn’t look like the pictures at all. But the owner was the best!! And it still was super clean!

This was my worst hotel stay in recent memory. The individual who met me at the window after I buzzed to announce my arrival was almost rude and acted like I was bothering him. But he checked me into room 104. The sheets were stained. The comforter on the bed had holes in it. The television was covered in cobwebs. The carpet was torn and didn't appear to be clean. The room was not inviting at all actually it was downright dismal. The only reason I stayed was because I was so tired from driving. But that was my mistake because I am now dealing with mites (insects to small to see with the naked eye) biting me. Up until this experience I had a positive impression of OYO...but not anymore.

The OYO label wasn't anywhere on the property, instead it said "Blue Jay Motel". Only man working was at a different property next door so I waited about 15 minutes to speak to someone. It was run down and dingy, I was scared to stay there alone as a young female. Not to mention, it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone.

Poor outside signage.....had previous motel signage in front of property. Rather worn furniture around entrance to property. Bed was comfortable and afforded us a good night's sleep. Room was clean; TV worked well. All outlets on room operated off entrance switch light switch. Did not notice until next morning as my phone did not charge. Would stay again.
