Grand Airport Ensuites

Advising we expected to arrive between 9-10pm we booked a stay on 18th August. I paid for the room and paid a £25 refundable cleaning fee, with a comment that I would be sent 'after hours check-in instructions' only the Postcode was shown on the booking confirmation. I sent an email to the hotel asking for the address, the hotel replied with the village name and post code! I wrote again and requested this information including property number again. This time the hotel replied with only the street name! A medical emergency occurred on the coach we travelled on from Scotland on the 18th. That delayed us by nearly an hour, I called the hotel at 1pm and advised staff we would be later than the 10pm scheduled arrival time. A young lady assured me this was no problem and she would send late check-in instructions by email after 2pm, she never did! Due to road works we arrived at the coach station at 9.15pm (90 minutes late). As I hadn't the after hours instructions email I called the hotel, my call went to a recorded message, when I opted to leave a voice message, a recorded announced that the mailbox was full We arrived at the airport at 10.30pm intending to take a taxi to the hotel I called the hotel again and got the same voice-mail. As our flight was in a five hours and without the check-in instructions, I emailed the hotel to cancel the booking and in fairness to the hotel we asked for a pro-rata refund (They did breach the contract) this has never been acknowledged! We are seniors had to sleep at the airport! On 19th August at 2pm and in transit in Doha I received an email this did not contain check-in instructions, merely informed me what I had paid for!

This is not a hotel. It is like a bedsit/shared house. I was shocked to see Hotels.com allowing this type of property. I tried to cancel on the day but I couldn't. I stayed didn't dare leave anything in the room when I was out. No parking. If i wasn't alone I would not have stayed.

Horrible place to stay, it’s not a hotel or BnB, it’s a dirty shared house with only customers inside and you receive a door code by message to reach your bedroom. They ask for a £25 deposit in order to give you the code, they told me that I will get that deposit back but it’s more than a week now and still nothing ! The place is extremely dirty, the mattress is horrible as we feel the springs in our back, and it’s 120cm large only (they call it double bed), also it’s very noisy. The noise doesn’t only come from the fact that this place is just at the end of the runway and the windows let the noise go through, it also comes from the other people staying at the same place using the kitchen after midnight, and the kitchen is the room linking all bedrooms. Last but not least, there was no table next to the bed and no switch to turn off the light, so you need to use the light of your phone in order to reach your bed, then you have to leave your phone on the dirty carpet… DO NOT STAY THERE !!!

Location vis-a-vis airport was good. Communication about check-in was terrible (received a doc I couldn't open and then could not communicate with any living human until late the evening of check-in - almost had to re-book elsewhere). Bed was truly terrible, shower didn't work, no bath mat.

The name of the the ensuites sounded good. I signed the conditions sheet. We took a taxi to the place and it looks like a run down house. We didn't get the code to get in so stood outside in the snow storm and wind trying to get ahold of someone. We finally got in and then couldn't find room 3. We finally figured that out. The bed was clean but mattress was horrible. More like a hide-a-bed and not comfortable at all. We were half crippled in the morning. It did have a kitchenette but it was not very inviting. We did not take showers. Our room was really cold so we sat in the kitchenette and had some snack where there was heat. The blinds in the bedroom were broken and didn't cover the whole window. Not very private.

Upon checking in I found the room in an absolutely disgusting state. The bed had been "made" with fresh towels and a duvet on top but the sheets underneath were stained, covered in dirt and absolutely filthy. The bathroom had urine on the floor, seat and inside the toilet itself. Used cups had been left by the last guest and whoever cleaned the room didn't notice they'd been used so just left them! The desk attached to the wall had been pulled off and exposed long screws to anyone unlucky enough to walk by.

It's proximity to the airport is good. Took U3 bus which is now no longer free but cost £1.65 Small price to pay as it is frequent and convenient. There is no parking. The room and bed is of good size. Mine is on the ground floor. Others are up the stairs. On arrival at the airport, with free airport wifi I was able to load all the instructions I needed. It is a remote access method. You will be sent an access code on the day of arrival. The remote entry was not a problem for me but without staff and reception on site, it might be an issue if you run into problems. I was in and out without seeing anyone. My room faces the main road. There were traffic all through the night so I woke many times. I am not even a light sleeper but found the noise disturbing to a good sleep. In spite of the low price I will not book this again. I already book a more expensive hotel for my return trip for more comfort.
