"Good"

5.0

The location with excellent. Bus on the doorstep 11 minute walk to the train station and the sea just there right in front of you.

The place has not been cleaned. Neither the floor or the windows. The whole place smelled damp and musty. New bedding needed, this lot has a body odor smell. New towels needed also. The flat itself is scruffy and unloved.

"A somewhat disappointing stay"

5.0

The property felt nice and light inside and the main bedroom and lounge/diner were a good size

Overall, the property was just about ok - it would really benefit from a professional clean; for example there were cobwebs and spiders in some rooms, the cupboard door handles in the kitchen were sticky and the kettle needed descaling etc. Some things also need replacing- e.g, tatty blinds, broken wicker basket in bedroom, several lamps not working etc. On the last night we also had issues with a foul smell coming from the shower drain for several hours, which was not pleasant. Location was decent for visiting tankerton beach and about a ten min walk from whitstable town centre. It felt a little removed from things. It’s located in what feels like quite an industrial area, so we didn’t overly enjoy the walk back to the property from town in the dark in the evenings. It’s a pity as the property itself could be really lovely with a bit of investment, but in its current state I would not stay again and we were quite relieved when we left as we did not feel at home during our stay due to the reasons above. Wasn’t overly happy about having to provide a £300 deposit before the stay either but it was quickly refunded after our stay.

"Super Whitstable flat! Highly recommended"

10.0

Absolutely fabulous location - a few minutes to the beach and high street - and lovely flat to stay. Great shower ( it was always hot and good pressure), a really comfy bed, and nice little touches like a few Christmas decorations for the season. Nice and quiet in the main bedroom at night ( I didn't sleep in the other room, but it's also at the back of the flat, i think.) I really liked the decor, sofas etc comfy, lots of room. Will definitely rebook if I need a place to stay in Whitstable again!

Honestly nothing, really. Totally understand not wanting guests to have guests over due to previous issues. Everything was just great. If you had accessibility is definitely not for you, but that's it, really!

"Some safety improvements at the flats and this is an excellent place for physically fit visitors."

3.0

Location near everything, walking distance to town, short distance to the seaside, local bus at front door

Stairs and uneven floor levels. Difficulty gaining keys for access, poor lighting in stairway unsafe. Bathroom facilities poor (eg old towels)

"Great base for exploring Whitstable and surrounding areas."

9.0

Really well situated for beaches and town centre and town harbour markets. Lovely view and everything was clean and nice.

Earlier notice (ahead of stay) that parking nearby is expensive and advice on free / affordable parking in walking distance would have been helpful.

"Good base for exploring Whitstable"

7.0

We really enjoyed Whitstable and the general area and the flat provided a good base, not far from the train station and with a bus stop right outside. The flat is just a short walk from the promenade and ten minutes walk to the town centre and the harbour with all its restaurants and the market. The flat was clean and had everything needed to cook meals. The lounge/dining room was spacious enough for four of us.The beds were comfy.

The road outside is a main route and was noisy at times. The second bedroom is very small and lacks storage space. The kitchen is small. There are steep steps down to the main bedroom. Some of the fixtures and fittings need updating, such as tatty blinds, floor tiles with missing grouting in bathroom, and the front of the cooker was loose.

"Nice apartment great lovation"

8.0

Visited Whitstable for my 60th birthday present. Also to run the half marathon there. Apartment in lovely central location. Plenty of space within the apartment. Bedrooms are at the back which is quiet with just an access lane. Bed linen was clean and beds comfortable. Plenty of storage. Sofas comfy and a good sized tv with all the usual channels. Kitchen well equipped. Another reviewer mentioned about having to take their rubbish with them, this isn’t correct, there’s a black bin with the flat number on at the back which is accessed by a small pathway on the right as you leave the apartment. We stayed 5 nights and only dropped rubbish in the black bin twice (once on leaving) as the bin liners are big.

"Great location but needs vast improvement."

2.0

Location was excellent. The shower was good.

Difficult to open key safe, often door lock didn't work properly. Enterence hall dark, damp and dirty. Inside the flat, floors grubby, many broken and cracked floor tiles, cracked wash basin, edges of worktops damaged and missing. Toaster full of crumbs, cooking pots and dishes filthy. We were very surprised to find an inventory of kitchen items, which was incorrect. It also listed how many and locations of pictures etc in each room. In all our many stays we have never been left an inventory before. The inventory lists two irons, we used neither, but one of them was broken and filthy. The ironing board was actually in the wardrobe, we didn't use it but it was very small and had no cover. The inventory lists a hand mixer, it was there but was also filthy. The bathroom often had a nasty drain smell. The towels left appeared to be clean but were old and scratchy. The mattress on the bed appeared to be quite new, however the bedding itself is of cheap quality. The pillows were absolutely disgusting and need to be binned. We did not discover this until we stripped the bed prior to our leaving the property. Had we looked at them earlier in the week we would have gone out and bought our own. Many items of furniture are in need of replacing - the very stained stool in the bedroom and the settee are particularly in need of this. The major problem for us was that the boiler was not working properly. We had plenty of hot water but no heating. Although the daytime temperature was fine it was very cold in the evening. My wife has an auto- immune disease and has to be in a warm environment. This meant that she had to go to bed early just to keep warm. We reported this many times throughout our stay but nothing was done about it. This obviously badly impacted our stay. It would not take too much to make this a lovely flat to stay in., but as it is we would not stay here again.
