"Pathetic Experience"

2.0

No wheelchair available in the hotel. No staff available to move heavy luggage to and from the room. Food was expensive. Very expensive. Almost overnight charges for a few hours stay for day trippers. Room allocated too far despite no wheelchair and assistance in moving the luggage.

"Unique hotel"

8.0

Fab, fun hotel which made me feel like I was in a movie! The reason I only scored it 4/5 was the price of the food and drinks. A swim on the rooftop bar overlooking the runway was the highlight for me.

"Beware before booking"

2.0

The TWA hotel does not care about you. They have a monopoly on the airport and behave as though they know it. Don’t even try to reach them over the phone, every experience I had trying to get someone to help me in person with anything was awful. I’m not sure who has the answers but it wasn’t any of the multiple people I spoke to on the phone. If you think you’re going to get a good view after they charge the price of a hotel in Times Square, think again. Almost every room faces a cement wall something unless you pay more. And did you want your security deposit back? They can’t afford to refund your $100 dollars back immediately so it’ll take up to a week to have that money returned. At the end of the day, the only reason this hotel is still in business is because people are desperate and there are no other options. Maybe that’s all you want from your time at the hotel. But just a heads up that you’ll be dealing with a headache for the duration of your stay.

"Hot Tub Time Machine"

10.0

I'm a frequent flyer with Jet Blue so I have been curious about this hotel adjacent to its JFK terminal since it opened. I had the opportunity to check it out with a friend, and we had a blast. The building itself is a work of art, and it's kind of wonderful just to be inside of it. There is a bit of a kitsch factor, but it's never tacky. They play early 1960s music throughout the facility, heavy on the Beatles, and the signage and interior design is all era-appropriate. The facility is laced with drinking and eating facilities, including a Jean-Georges restaurant. It seemed to have a high staff-to-guest ratio, and the workers were cheerful and accommodating. We had drinks at the Sunken Lounge, which is right at the entrance. Manhattan-ish prices but it was fine and a good place to soak up the atmosphere. For food, we went up to the chalet by the pool at ate at the bar. The food quality was surprisingly good, we had a chicken caesar wrap and the beef sliders, the high point actually being the french fries, which were crinkle-cut and pillowy inside, just like in the 60s. The food disconcertedly arrived in takeout containers with plastic-ware, not something you would have seen in the 60s, but I figure it's a cost-savings measure that keeps a lid on the prices. The wrap was $17, the sliders $21, and the fries $9, fair for New York, and the sliders were enough for two people. We decided the skip the pool (the Hot Tub in the review title) just because it was chilly outside and even though the water was heated, people using it seemed to be cold once they got out. There isn't a dedicated changing area, people have to use the bathrooms or their hotel rooms if the have them. If you do have a room, you can call housekeeping and they'll bring you robes. The infinity pool is a good idea, though it's mainly used for soaking not swimming. Other than the pool and a massive gym (which we didn't have time to check out) , however, there isn't much to do at the hotel except to eat and drink. Other small drawbacks: Not all of the dining and drinking options are open all of the time; there isn't direct access to the airport terminals, even terminal 5, you have to take a short outdoor walk to a garage structure. There's a food hall with two stands open 24/7 and a handful with shorter hours; the seating seemed like an afterthought, but if you had a room you could take it there. Verdict: it's a unique concept, well done, at prices commensurate with the service.

The experience was everything I hoped it'd be. I bit of nostalgia for a time that was and amenities for our time that is. Will visit again.

"(Former) TWA Platinum and TWA Silver fliers"

10.0

My wife and I were former TWA Platinum and TWA Silver fliers back in 2001 (acquisition by American Airlines). We were were super excited to step back in time and we were ‘blown away’. Kudos to the design team and the entire (current) TWA Hotel service team. We saw it all (displays, exhibits, restaurants, Connie, bar.. and Infiniti pool)… OUTSTANDING!

"Great place to stop for a connecting flight, or stay there a few days and experience it all!"

10.0

This is an amazing hotel built in the middle of Terminal 5 at JFK airport. This was amazingly comfortable for the short overnight stay we had for a connection. Honestly, the vacation I had just ended and this was a pit-stop on the way home had both of us questioning why we didn't just stay here for the week. Staff were very nice, the property has a unique feel and a great design honoring the history of aviation.

"A moment in time"

10.0

Everything you’ve seen about this place? Or heard? Doesn’t begin to cover it. It is absolutely beautiful. A MUST experience. My low score for the rooms is strictly due to my experience where the staff was unwilling to accommodate me despite many available alternative rooms available. If we ignore that one issue I had it would be a perfect score.

"Avoid unless you like to be ripped off"

2.0

Rude and arrogant staff, overpriced for very average accommodation, overpriced food, over priced everything! Staff and TWA overall are very inflexible and unhelpful in every way. This is simply corporate greed dressed as a trendy but now slight run down hotel.

"Cool Concept"

8.0

I stayed at the TWA Hotel recently, and while the design and nostalgia are undeniably impressive, a few practical issues made the experience less enjoyable than I had hoped. The design is gorgeous, and walking through the restored terminal truly feels like stepping back in time. Getting to my room was surprisingly inconvenient. There’s a long walk from reception to the rooms, and navigating the sprawling layout with luggage was frustrating — especially after a long journey dragging suitcases on carpet not ideal. For a hotel at an airport, where nearly everyone has baggage, this felt like a major oversight. No porter offered. On top of that, I was woken up at 3 am. by a car alarm going off outside. While the rooms are generally well soundproofed, this was loud and persistent enough to break through and definitely disrupted my sleep. Service was just ok, and the distance between areas of the hotel makes everything feel less efficient than it should be. The TWA Hotel is visually stunning and worth visiting for the historic ambiance, but the practical experience doesn’t quite match the price it’s much more of a budget hotel. Between the long walk with luggage and being woken up in the middle of the night, my stay felt more tiring than relaxing. I would recommend it mainly for design lovers or those looking for a one-time novelty stay — not for travelers seeking maximum convenience or rest.
