"DIRTY AND DISGUSTING ESTABLISHMENT"

2.0

I have been wanting to check out this hotel since it opened a few years ago. Of course, the pictures online look fantastic and I’m a big fan of aviation history. The common areas – the lobby, the gym, the museum of vintage flight attendant outfits - are lovely. The Christmas decor makes them even prettier. But oh my goodness, the rooms are ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I paid $740 for a “runway view” room for one night. The first room I was given on the sixth floor was almost high-level with the road, meaning I saw more of cars passing right outside my window then I did the runway. I went to ask to be switched to a different room and was given a room up on the eighth floor in the same Wing. As soon as I answered, the overwhelming stench of must and cigarette smoke overwhelmed me. However, at this point, I was frustrated and just wanted to relax, so I put my stuff down and resigned myself to staying in this room. After a visit to the gym, I came back upstairs to shower only to find multiple black curly hairs on the shower wall HOW can this place charge what they do and still not clean the shower walls?? Once again, I reached out to the front desk to complain and they sent up a housekeeping manager to verify my concerns (which he did). I was offered to either have my room cleaned again (super annoying since it is now almost 8 o’clock at night) or try to switch rooms if there is availability. I was told someone would reach out to me if there is another available room. While waiting I noticed how cold it was and saw that the temperature in the room was 67 degrees. I tried to make it warmer, but guess what?? THE HEAT IN THE ROOM IS ALSO BROKEN. I called down to the front desk to report this and was told they would try to send an engineer up. I told them that I wanted YET another room. This dump makes Motel 6 look luxury. I have never in my life had a worse hotel experience. STAY AWAY from this place!! It is dirty, disgusting, and a massive ripoff.

"Back to the Future: A Glorious Mid-Century Time Warp at TWA Hotel JFK"

10.0

Stepping into the TWA Hotel feels like being beamed straight into 1962; only with better Wi-Fi and infinitely comfier beds. The moment you walk through the iconic Eero Saarinen–designed terminal (those swooping white curves, the chili-pepper-red carpets, the sunken lounge with period-perfect furniture), you’re grinning like a kid who just discovered a real-life DeLorean. The restoration is jaw-dropping. Every detail screams Mad Men glamour: the brass accents, the vintage Solari split-flap departure board clacking away, the 1958 Lockheed Constellation “Connie” turned cocktail bar parked right outside. It’s not just retro-inspired; it’s the actual terminal, lovingly brought back from the dead. I half-expected Don Draper to stroll by with an Old Fashioned. The Paris Café serves some of the best airport food on planet Earth. The burger is juicy perfection, the fries are crisp. If you have a layover, an early flight, or just love aviation history and impeccable design, the TWA Hotel isn’t just a place to crash; it’s a destination. It’s nostalgic without being kitschy, luxurious without being stuffy, and hands-down the coolest airport hotel experience in the world. Five stars. I already can’t wait to come back to the future. ✈️❤️

"Back to the Future"

10.0

I've stayed here twice and loved it both times. It's like stepping back in a time machine to the "futuristic" world of the 1960's. They did an amazing job restoring the terminal and it is just a fun and unique experience. Highly recommend.

"Stay In A Time Capsule"

10.0

The place is like no other -- built when we had style. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the location is great if you're flying out of JFK, and it's really a lovely experience -- bring a camera. Great mattresses and good food too.

"IMO, not a great value for money but I was desperate for some sleep."

6.0

Paid $250 for a 4 hour stay. -- No toothpaste or toothbrush upon immediate arrival to the room. (Had to call front desk to for these items.) -- No drinking water bottles available. -- You have to prebook online, there is no way to book a room at the Front Desk. (I didn't have time to prebook so that was disappointment.) I stayed at 3 other airport hotels during that trip and all the items listed above were complimentary. I was also able to go to the front desk and book a room at Abu Dhabi, something that's not offered at the TWA. For the price I paid, I would say I got subpar performance. Next time I am at JFK I will be looking for alternatives.

"A Marvelous Hotel"

8.0

The TWA is probably the most interesting hotel I've ever stayed at. The architecture and colors are fabulous. Wherever one goes, one feels a return to the 1950-1960 era. There are vintage cars and other items throughout the hotel. The music wherever one goes is from that time. The decor is lovely as are the rooms. Every room has floor to ceiling windows looking out at different part of the airport. My only complaint was that the room did not contain amenities such as a shower cap and body lotion. I would definitely recommend a night in this marvelous hotel.

Love the design, experience and staff! Only thing I would change - beverages in the bar by the Sunken Lounge ought to be served in glasses.

"Tues to TWA made this a perfect nostalgic stay"

6.0

Read the reviews in advance and had low expectations, was pleasantly surprised by our experience. We enjoyed the hotel as soon as we approached from Terminal 5. The vintage cars decorated for Christmas were a nice touch. The room was clean and met our needs. We enjoyed the rooftop pool that overlooked the JetBlue planes and liked the opportunity to watch flights land and takeoff. There was a cute Apres Ski themed bar there too. The music throughout was 60’s vibe and we especially loved the vintage holiday tunes. The lobby food to go and we got marinara pasta which was average, but the red velvet cake was fabulous. We have ties to TWA and felt that the hotel really provided a nostalgic moment for us.

"Nice to visit. Not worth staying here"

2.0

Booked two nights in this hotel after visiting it on an earlier trip to JFK airport. Would not stay here again. Room was not serviced. Room did not have a fridge. Very very limited food/drink options with no ability to easily use apps to get food delivered. Ordered a higher class room with an "iconic view" but had a view mainly of a white cement corridor from my window. Def worth checking out if you have time while at JFK. No reason to stay in this hotel. Terrible option for the $400/night price.
