Room had issues : broken bath tub, TV did not work the whole time, room service did not come when asked, light in bathroom keeps turning on or off when it wants and cannot be controlled

Hotel is comfortable, modern, clean and a good location

We were disappointed that the rooftop bar was closed during the day? No explanation. Not the hotel's fault but there's a faint smell of urine in the walkway. I know it's a problem in most major cities.

Best hotel in SLO. Great location to walk to anywhere downtown. Beautiful rooms. Bathroom could have used a second sink, but overall top notch. Loved the rooftop pool with bar. Very friendly staff. Will be back.

Our Memorial Day weekend stay at the relatively new Hotel Cerro Autograph Collection hotel in downtown San Luis Obispo was very pleasant and comfortable, if a bit lacking in sense of place and character. (The hotel opened in summer 2020 but only joined Marriott in June 2024.) We were in town for a friend’s faculty retirement from nearby Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after having spent 3 nights beforehand at Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur (about a 3 hr drive), also celebrating our anniversary. #sanluisobispo #autographcollection #hotelcerro #calpolyslo #gardensuite #earlycheckin #latecheckout #AmbassadorStatusMatters The boutique hotel has only 65 rooms and suites but felt larger to us. It’s very modern and clean, and certainly includes all the bells and whistles of a larger hotel — but it just felt a bit sterile to us. To be fair, we also had dinner at and checked out the nearby Hotel San Luis Obispo, supposedly the best hotel in town, and it felt just as modern and sterile (and much more massive). So it’s all relative. The Hotel Cerro building apparently used to be a live music venue, and the restaurant and bar area still include some of that ambience. It’s right downtown and has a wonderfully central location for walking around SLO. It also has a lovely rooftop pool deck and bar, even as we never spent any time there. It’s just a 5-10 min drive to the Cal Poly SLO campus. Our booked Garden Suite was spacious and comfortable but very curiously laid out, opening into the toilet area and then bathroom sinks and shower/tub area before entering into the spacious junior suite bedroom, seating area, and small outdoor patio. The arrangement was very odd to us, so we likely wouldn’t book that room category again. That being said, the air con worked great and held a very comfortable 65 F or so for our stay — something the hotel had updated and confirmed only a few days before our arrival. Shower pressure was good. WiFi was a very respectable 50 Mbps up and down. The hotel also graciously had a welcome amenity on arrival of chocolate covered strawberries and sparking wine. That’s pretty impressive for a non-luxury hotel IME. They missed on the extra bottles of water and fan they’d previously confirmed, but we had no problem getting extra water from the front desk (and we didn’t need a fan because the air con worked so well). Our 1 pm early arrival and 4 pm late checkout both were confirmed, even as we arrived a bit later and left a few hours earlier. But we appreciated the flexibility. The very friendly GM, Matt, was there to greet us on arrival, as well. The hotel’s Oak Grill bar and restaurant were a highlight. The bartender made some fantastic cocktails for our friends and us, and they also had some great appetizers. Much better drinks and food even than those at the supposedly better Hotel San Luis Obispo’s much lauded Ox and Anchor bar and steakhouse — which rather disappointed all of us, actually. Breakfast at the Oak Grill was solid and included a continental breakfast allowance of $20 per person IIRC. Service was always friendly and helpful. Everyone clearly wanted to make my Ambassador stay as nice as possible. While it isn’t the most charming of boutique hotels, and it was a bit pricey, it still is a very nice modern hotel and we certainly enjoyed our stay. We definitely would stay here again whenever in SLO — especially after seeing how sterile (and larger and more expensive) the more lauded Hotel San Luis Obispo is. But we’d likely ask for a different room or room category with a better layout for us. The fact we enjoyed it so much after staying at the famous and vastly more expensive Post Ranch Inn also speaks volumes. Between the Hotel Cerro and the Vespera Autograph property in nearby Pismo Beach, it’s also nice to see such quality Marriott options along the Central Coast.

Hotel CERRO and its manager Vance went above and beyond expectations after we encountered and overbooking issue on a busy holiday weekend and they were not able to accommodate our reservation, things happen… and while we were trying to figure out where to stay elsewhere at the hotel bar they stepped up and covered our bar bill and found us and paid for accommodations at another hotel, and personally drove us there to check in then drove us to dinner recommendations in town. Can’t say enough about how they rose to the highest level of customer service after an unfortunate situation. We highly recommend staying at this hotel!

I was recently married at a venue nearby and we decided to encourage our guests to stay at Hotel Cerro alongside of us. My wife and I had visited the hotel a few times before our stay, so we had pretty high hopes that our expectations for our big weekend would be met with what we had previously experienced. Hotel Cerro far exceeded what we expected. For starters, they made a note that we were staying for our wedding, and upgraded us into an amazing suite level room. Huge points from the start... Each member of the staff addressed us by name, the grounds were immaculate, and everything we needed taken care of was always immediately addressed. The rooftop pool and bar were a hit with our crew all weekend. You get what you pay for at Hotel Cerro, and so much more. We are already looking forward to spending anniversaries there for years to come! Thank you all again, we are so appreciative.

The hotel staff was great. They even upgraded us for our anniversary - our room was gorgeous, including an outdoor patio with a fire pit. The rooftop pool and gym were fantastic - great views of the town and surrounding mountains. There were several coffee shops and great restaurants within walking distance too. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel but we did go to happy hour for drinks and food. We were also provided $15/day vouchers for the bar/restaurant. Overall, a great stay and will likely return.

The onsite parking was $40/day - that's NYC pricing so opted to park in the City lot one block away for $8/day.
