The Merchant's House, BW Signature Collection

Location was excellent. Breakfast was satisfactory.

The shower in the bedroom did not work despite me following the instructions carefully. This was actually the first time in my life that I could not get an hotel shower to work!! I think it was broken and I reported this to the very nice lady who was on reception. She said I should have come through to reception and someone would have come to our room to fix it. However I explained to her that as I was in a state of undress this was not really so easy. I am almost 76 years of age!!

Great location, walking distance from the main sights. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Great breakfast, with eggs cooked to order, including scrambled eggs and omelette.

There isn’t a lot of free parking, but there are car parks nearby at reasonable rates. Signage within the hotel could be better _sometimes signs to reception are facing away from lost guests!

Disappointed in the room we had but we were upgraded to a fantastic room but had to pay for it. Would have expected a better room in the first place.

Staff were SUPERB - ALL OF THEM! Room disappointing at first but then upgraded. Was about to go home. But still had to pay extra.

Comfortable and clean room, very friendy and helpful staff. The shower was over the bath, but worked well just the same. The only thing I would say is that where a shower is over the bath, from a safety viewpoint there should be a grab rail of some kind on the wall. Breakfast was great, with freshly cooked eggs. I prefer my eggs scrambled, but usually on a breakfast buffet they become rubbery, so these were a real treat. They will also make omelettes.
