The Rose & Crown

The pub and hotel rooms are beautiful and well kept. Everything was clean and modern, while in keeping with the Shakespearean theme of the rooms. I stayed in Rosalind room which was spacious and perfect. Everything felt personal and cosy. The location is perfect in Godalming and the team here are lovely.

The staff and owner were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble for them. The bedrooms were lovely, comfortable and very clean.

I can’t think of a single thing I would change

The manager met me for an early check in and kindly upgraded me from the single to double room. Location is 3 minutes walk (downhill) from Godalming Station (the other station is Farncombe which would be a 20-minute walk through the lovely town). I was fine climbing the narrow stairs to my room and also a set of stairs to my shower/toilet. If you have difficuty with stairs you might want to re-consider but in fairness, the automated message on booking states all of this and possible pub noise very clearly (I stayed on a Monday night so the pub was closed). The sheets are decent quality along with good towels, modern bathroom, there is no tv but I was ok with this. Easy check-in and out, apprecated the upgrade and friendliness of the manager on check-in The bulding is circa 1500, very quaint and well-kept, rooms are card access only which is better for safety

This is just me as a solo female traveller, but I wasn't aware that I would be the only person in the whole building overnight and it was empty from 4pm. I didn't sleep well because of this, but again this is subjective. Communication via the booking.com app is very slow and I had to leave a few phone messages for staff to reply by the app as I was told the building is not occupied of a day time.
