Welbedacht Game & Nature Reserve

The views, location and surroundings were stunning. The cottage was clean and well equipped. Very quiet and tranquil.

The only downside was that we hadn’t realised how ‘hands off’ the service would be. I understand that it’s nice to allow people privacy, but while the new gate system is bedding in it would’ve been helpful to have more contact, as the uncertainty around getting the gate open, made you less inclined to leave the reserve.

Would prefer to gatekeep this location, simply stunning with super cool hot tub. Super private, safe and well equipped chalets.

Everything is super smooth, would only say that the hiking trails appeared not well maintained - other than that fantastic for a getaway.

The isolation, privacy and the fact that you did not need to interact with anyone, including the staff.

This place is amazing! The cottage felt in the middle of no where and very private, the space had everything we needed and the bed was also very comfortable and a fan for hot evenings

There was nothing I didn’t like

After a hectic stay in Stellenbosch, Welbedacht was so peaceful and relaxing. Tulbagh is close by with various farms to visit - wine, olives, fruit. There are restaurants not too far away and access in and out of the nature reserve was easy. The heated splash pool was awesome and relaxing on the deck with views for miles and not another person in sight, priceless!! Short easy trails on the reserve are well marked for the more energetic.

Fabulous location in a mini reserve with zebras, buck, ostriches with loads of chicks. Fabulous safe small swimming dam tucked away behind the trees. Quiet and secluded. Accommodation rustic, clean, good bbq. Bed in our hut was quite small. Need to take everything for self catering, even salt & pepper. I think they do breakfast but it wasn’t easy to book it and we ate in a good cafe in Tulbagh.

We were given no instructions on how to find or enter the property. You have to submit your number plate and then another code for the second gate. It helps to have a working phone to call them. We didn’t - only what’s app. Make sure before you arrive you have their number, and the check in details.

Wat een geweldige plaats om voledig tot rust te komen. Vogels kwamen drinken uit de mountainpool terwijl we ernaast zaten. Het verblijf was schoon, heeft een geweldige bed en is goed toegerust met alles wat nodig is in de keuken.

Een airconditioning zou voor ons de verblijf nog meer aangenaam maakte.
