Welbedacht Game & Nature Reserve

Loved the tranquility, privacy and beauty of reserve, and being able to be so close to wildlife, just 90 mins away from Cape Town. We’d recommend the Ixia trail which is stunning at present with spring vegetation. Recommend taking water and some snacks. We stayed in Tortoise this time around. George was very responsive and ensured we had a great stay.

Fabulous place. Very private, adorable little cottage nestled under huge mountains. Everyone we dealt with was welcoming and respectful. The estate is amazing and definitely a place we’d go to again.

Only improvement would be to upgrade the fridge in Stone cottage. Current fridge kicks in quite loudly periodically and wakes one up. I’m sure owners aren’t aware this happens.

We had a wonderful stay at Gum Tree Cottage, Welbedacht. The zebras roaming around our cottage was awesome. The newborn ostrich chicks was the highlight for me! the hot tub was lovely and just want we needed for our relaxing weekend. George is a lovely host and we cant wait to go back for another weekend!

Picturesque valley and Mountain View’s from a rustic cottage. Peaceful, quiet with interesting wildlife. Comfortable bed.

Accommodation small and basic. Our experience would have been better if there was: A cupboard, drawers or shelves to hang and store clothes. A quieter fridge. It’s motor kept us awake at night

From start to finish, our experience at Welbedacht Game & Nature Reserve Tulbagh was nothing short of amazing. The accommodation exceeded all expectations. The views were breathtaking, and the peaceful surroundings made it the perfect escape from our busy everyday lives. Every moment was memorable. We left feeling refreshed and already planning our return. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in comfort and style!

There was nothing not to like.

Me and my husband went for the weekend for our Anniversary. The Manager George made our 2 nights stay unforgettable. The pictures did not do the 1 sleeper Tortoise cottage enough Justise. Our Cottage had a wood fire outdoor sitting pool, where we spent 80% of our day. We were completely secluded with no other guests in sight only the sounds of the wildlife around us. We opted for inclusive breakfast which was well worth every penny and absolutely delicious. Again we want to thank the manager George for his hospitality and for making our 22nd Wedding Anniversary unforgettable. George we will be back - ;0)

The roads in the Reserve are not easily accessible with a normal car - we drive a VW Polo and had to be carefully of rocks and uneven paving. The Reserve could benefit with paving the main roads in and out of the reserve - ;0)

Wonderful nature reserve with animals roaming around and stunning views. Cottage is cozy and well equipped and the host went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We would have loved to stay longer. Highly recommended.
