"Hotel - not really!"

2.0

Would’ve expected more than just one towel allocated in the bathroom. As there was a hairdryer in room - presumably someone thought a guest might wash their hair! … was he/she supposed to wrap the bath/shower towel around their head?! The hotel was in a ‘time warp’ …. just like a 1960’s boarding house. Dinner was served 6 - 7 precisely! It was being cleared away at 7.15 …it was similar to a school dinners setting ….. as it was self service from a large heated trolley.

Great location. Great staff. Very good breakfast. Room size is typical of hotels of its era - small but comfortable. There is no lift but staff will readily help to carry luggage up the stairs to your room.

Good location but room was on the 4th floor and there's no elevator. A metal rod was in the middle of the mattress making a clear division between the double bed.

This is not a family friendly hotel at all. Music blasting every night of our stay with strays walking the corridors going into eachothers rooms being extremely loud. Top floor absolutely stunk of marajuna with talk of “we can’t sell that” I don’t even want to know what’s going on in that hotel but I will not be returning and will be advising all my family and friends to also avoid it here

Staff are lovely and the room we stayed in was nice with lovely views of the sea. The advertised gaming room did not exists which was what swang the booking for us. We had issues with keys on our first night causing my partner to be locked out of the building, as did another guest who we had to help gain access. The low score really reflects our experiences bringing a dog. We were presented with an additional charge of £25/day on arrival for the dog which makes it quite a bit more expensive than far better places to stay with your dog in the area. It is difficult to find dog friendly places to eat nearby of an evening so we popped next door (gone 30 mins, left 8:15pm) to grab some food and left him in the room. We received frantic calls from the staff and owner (4 calls, 2 voicemails and 2 texts in the space of 10 mins) because the dog had been barking whilst we were out (our bad, he doesnt usually but may have in unfamiliar surrondings on a noisy street). Later that evening we found another guest outside smoking when we went out to walk the dog. I initially thought she was locked out so asked if she was ok. She ignored me, staring at the door, seemingly quite drunk, then she became quite rude accusing us of abandoning our dog and leaving him for hours... it quickly became clear she had lied to the staff, exagerating the time the dog had been left for. We decided to cut our losses (non refundable) and go elsewhere after 2/4 days. Life's too short.

"Great hotel on the seafront."

8.0

A lovely hotel right on the promenade of Douglas. Ok so the views from bedroom windows are not great but who wants to spend a lot of time looking out the window in the Isle of Man? The hotel is clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. Tea and coffee making facilities a flat screen TV and USB charging point are all in the room. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice and we had a 3 course meal every night with a choice of 3 mains. Some nights it was hard to make a choice as it was all so good! The bar is a lovely place to relax or chat with fellow residents after Dinner and overlooks the seafront. The staff are an asset to the hotel. Without exception, they were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help us. They even carried our cases up the many steps to our rooms which was very much appreciated. We really enjoyed our stay here and will return if we visit the Isle of Man again.

We checked in a bit late and were really tired so having noisy other guests was a bit of a problem. Place not very sound proof so having people slam doors woke us up constantly.
