Lovely hotel, even better spa. The Thai massage I had with Ping was amazing, if you can visit the spa whilst you are here then book in a Thai massage. Would recommend to friends, family and anyone looking for a luxury & tranquil holiday

From the moment we arrived it was clear that Paul the GM genuinely cares about the experience of every guest. He is visible throughout the day, talking with guests and making sure everything is running smoothly. You can really tell he’s committed to making this the best resort in Khao Lak. Breakfast each morning was lovely with a great spread and excellent service. A big thank you to Nat, whose warm smile and kind greeting became the best start to our day. The food was fresh and plentiful though after eight days it did feel a little repetitive. We were thrilled to see Prince again, who we remembered from Pullman Naithon Beach. He’s an absolute asset to both the Accor brand and Grand Mercure Khao Lak. His natural ability to anticipate guests’ needs and make every interaction thoughtful and sincere is something rare and special. The pool and gardens are stunning — peaceful, lush and beautifully maintained - far better than any other resorts in the area (Graceland, Le Meridien). There were always plenty of loungers available and the resort’s fair policy of wrapping up unattended items after an hour was a smart touch. A big thank you also to Amp at the pool bar, whose cheerful smile and kind service made every poolside moment even better. The complimentary twice daily refreshments by the beach and pool again added to the experience. This is the kind of service that takes this resort to another level. Our suite was beautifully designed with a real sense of luxury and attention to detail. The coffee machine was a great touch especially when you just want to sit and relax with a coffee in the room. The kids club was fantastic and kept our eight year old entertained which gave us a real chance to unwind. The beachfront is postcard perfect — plenty of loungers, golden sunsets and great drink service right on the sand. The spa was exceptional — truly the best treatment we’ve had anywhere in Thailand or back home in Australia. Thank you Ping and Nok for your professionalism and skill. The location couldn’t be better with beachfront restaurants, cafés, massage spots and laundry services all just a short walk away Overall, this resort exceeded our expectations in so many ways. It is truly in a league of its own when comparing it to other resorts in Khao Lak. We are already looking at booking our next stay

Everything was absolutely perfect. The staff were wonderful, the room was very comfortable. Great happy hour at the pool bar, and surrounded by amazing food and massages. You will be thrilled with your choice to stay here

I had twice a massage at the Spa at Grand Mercure Khao Lak. Her name was Ping and these were the two best massages I've ever got in my life! So, so good! She was competent, super friendly and made the massages to a highlight of my vacation. Susanne Seeger

Pros.Friendly, efficient staff and hotel very well managed. Restaurant had great food and ambiance. Wonderful spa with very well trained staff. Top tip: ask for Doa or Ping. Cons. Breakfast a rea small and can get overcrowded very quickly. People smoking on balconies even though this hotel claims to be smoke free and only allow it in designated area. Shame because the smoke drifting meant being asthmatic we couldn't sit and enjoy our own swim out balcony a lot of the time. They need signs on the balconies saying no smoking allowed. No point selling yourself as smoke free hotel if it is not enforced. Hotel quite far from Khao Lak centre but their are some nice beach restaurants surrounding it.

I had the pleasure of staying seven nights at this hotel through a TravelZoo package deal. This is a lovely two-story hotel with a north and south wing. Both wings lead to the Bangsak Beachfront where the hotel has a pool, swim-up bar, towels, and beach chairs. There is an international buffet a few nights a week which is quite good. The breakfast buffet is very nice. PROS: - Lovely less-crowded property - Great front desk staff. Kudos to kris for his personalized attention - Rooms are comfortable. Beds are not the best, but decent - Housekeeping is excellent - Staff works hard and is eager to please guests CONS: - Rooms are accessed through side alleys which are quite dark at night. Buildings are not numbered so you're at the mercy of counting the number of buildings to get to your unit. I had a flashlight handy which helped. You can also have the restaurant call for a driver in one of their golf carts. - For a solo traveler who enjoy exploring the area, this one is a disappointment. Hotel is not too accessible by Grab or Bolt. It's too far from Khao Lak and a ride costs about USD $13 each way. - it rained alot and the roads outside the hotel ground flooded quite quickly. - Though hotel offers an evening shuttle to the Khao Lak night market, it is not daily and it costs approximately USD $5 - What drove me nuts about the restaurants is that you need to make a reservation and then when you get there you find that tables have been specifically reserved for specific guests. You may have a reservation but the staff is not good about directing to other tables. I still don't know how one books a specific table. This practice needs to be abolished. - Pizzas are dreadful. Not crispy crust. Avoid ordering them. This hotel is not ideal for the solo travel or for those who wish to access the area by ride share or foot. -

On arrival at Grand Mercure we were a little taken back as the reception of more like a small boutique hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly and whenever a staff member passed you they would say hello. The room I had initially booked was on the first floor and was upgraded to a ground floor room which was great. The staff decorated our bed as I mentioned that it was our anniversary. The room was very luxurious with king size bed, large TV, huge bathroom and tea making facilities, as well as a lovely outside deck with furniture facing large pond with fish. Robes and slippers were in the robe. The lighting in the bathroom was very dark and had to use the torch my husband carries with him to put on make-up. There is plenty of space in the room for a bigger wardrobe but the built in robe is very small for two people. The resort is long and thin, so a bit of walking to do to get to the beach and pool area as well as the Green Frog restaurant for dinner (the only restaurant in the resort to have dinner). The breakfast rooms (3) are half-way along so not as much walking. Breakfast is everything you could wish for, the variety is amazing from western to asian choices as well as three different juices and two refreshing water containers, one plain and one infused as well as pandanus juice (must try). and we didn't eat lunch only dinner as no room in belly for lunch! The beach is nice and we swam in the ocean a couple of times. The pool has a swim up bar for cocktails but as normal at these resorts you have to be early to land a recliner around the pool. There are restaurants up and down the beach as well as massages. There is also restaurants out the front of the resort which we tried a few times (delicious food) as we got bored with same food in the Green Frog. Our booking was through Luxury Escapes which upgraded to include transfers to and from Phuket, breakfast, two cocktails a day and either dinner or lunch at the Green Frog (menu is same for lunch and dinner). I would recommend booking bed and breakfast as there are many varieties to choose from with dinner outside and resort, which are very inexpensive as well as delicious.

Just coming to the end of a 11 night stay at Grand Mecure Hotel, it is a fantastic hotel in many ways. A stunning peaceful setting, staff, service, rooms & bed comfort are second to none and everything is kept immaculately clean. We had a pool room which was fantastic and would highly recommend. We stayed B&B which I'm glad about as it included an amazing breakfast with masses of delicious options. There are also lots of lovely eatery's in very close proximity to the hotel as it's location is perfect and right on the beach, don't be afraid to go & explore outside the hotel to find many friendly bars & restaurants on the door step with the bustling town of Khao Lak just 15 minutes away in a cab. We have found a good mix of British, Germans and Russians staying here. The only negative I would say (for us) is that the hotel is very quiet at night with literally just one small quiet bar which closes at 10pm so the hotel could perhaps benefit from another area open a bit later but lots of choice on the doorstep outside the hotel. We have had an amazing stay and would highly recommend the Grand Mecure as very good value for money (staying B&B).
