Heart of the City - FREE PARKING

The location was great, that aside, I could not register for the parking as the maximum number of users had been reached, I had to delete a previous vehicle to register mine. There was no hot water at the property for the duration of the stay, I called the numbers on the contact sheet, left messages on both of them, emailed them and did not receive a reply, (I still have not had any communication with them) The stairs to the bedroom are narrow spiral stairs, which are a bit of a problem if you have had a knee replacement and have a little difficulty on stairs like this. overall it was not what I expected and I will NOT be using this apartment again.

If you don't have a car and are travelling light, the location is great. Very close to all amenities and attractions. The main bed was comfy.

The whole apartment was very shabby and dirty. The furniture has seen better days, and the fixtures in the bathroom have not been fitted to a good standard. There was a safety bar missing from the stairs, and the handrail had gaps that hurt if you caught your hand on it. The hardword flooring had large gaps. The carpets had stains.There were fire alarms and light fittings missing. The whole building smelt very damp. It hadn't been cleaned very well. There was food baked onto the hob hair and dust gathered around the table and chair legs. Crumbs and a hair tie were found under the sofa cushions when we removed them to make the sofa bed. Several marks on sofa cushions. The bedding for the sofa bed was not left out, and there was no description of where to find it. We eventually found it in a box under some towels and had to put the duvet cover on ourselves. We attempted to contact the owners several times and just got an answering machine every time and no reply to any of our texts for the entire stay. The car parking was not very good. It was hard to find it didn't feel very secure.There was quite a detailed description about the car park and numbered bays that didnt match up at all and again no reply when we tried to get clarification from the owners. It was too far away from the building and not practical trying to move your luggage from the car through the busy city centre in the day when the roads are for pedestrians only. We had to wait until after 6pm to get the car close enough to unload and it just made the whole process very stressful and complicated. It would've been really helpful if any of these things had been explained so we didn't have to try and figure it all out in a place we are not familiar with at the beginning of our break. There was nowhere to put our rubbish other than the small kitchen bin.

Great place. The staff on WhatsApp were super friendly and helpful. Very cozy and homely feel. Can't really fault it

2 tiny niggles. The fire alarm in the kitchen was beeping, guessing due to batteries. And it took a good while for hot water for the shower. The hot water does have a note daying to use in the evening which is absolutely fair

Absolutely nothing - it was disgusting filthy and we couldn’t stay in the property.

Everything! It was filthy, dangerous staircase with missing spindle and banister coming away which led down to a bedroom which you were then trapped as no fire escape. Bath panel was broken and moldy, oven full of grease, bins full with bloody tissues n bodily fluids. Bins full, bed sheets not changed full of orange make up and pubic hairs. Toilet seat broken, pubic hair on seat, long human hairs in the bath. Rubbish on work surfaces. Ironing board out cupboards open - used dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Lots of debris under the sofa in the living space and under the bed in bedroom. A used cleaning rag on the floor, empty toilet roll inners and boxes in the bathroom. Cobwebs hanging from ceilings. The property was up a dark alley and a doesn’t seem safe. The list goes on and on

What we liked the most is the central location. Within blocks of the Shambles, Bettys Cafe, Boots, Marks and Spencer, Jorvik, and more. The instructions for getting keys was a bit off. The lock box instructions are not accurate as to the location. The apartment is on 2 floors with a narrow spiral staircase to get between floors. The apartment was clean, but parts are a bit run down. the closet door in the bedroom was off its track. That said, you cannot get a better location. Sites, restaurants, shopping and more are all withing a few blocks. Streets are free of cars, so walking is easy. With the apartments faults, I think we'd stay there again because of the location.and the fact that it was slean.

We loved the cleanliness.. the apartment was fantastic.. just what we needed.. the spiral staircase was unusual but we really loved the uniqueness of it.. Had really good response times from the owners regarding enquiries.. And location.. wow.. And parking felt really safe. Couldn't really ask for better for our stay. Thankyou very very much... Sean x

First off a little delay in communicating check in instructions. The location is down some narrow alleyways. There are 6 lock boxes for keys, so that took a little figuring out. Kind of like going to an escape room but in reverse. Once inside the smell hits you. Bachelor party vibes. The smell of urine or vomit covered by sanitizer scent. And that was just the entry to the building. Up some stairs that are either stained with blood or someone’s beverage. Upon entry to the apartment things seemed a little better but soon we would realize the flaws. The upstairs is fine and the sofa bed worked. Extra linens were available as well as a second bathroom. Now, to the dungeon. Down a very narrow spiral staircase the main bedroom is found as well as the bathroom with a shower. Regarding the bathroom the floor tiles felt to be collapsing under our weight. The smell of mold and moisture also gets stronger down there. The tub had a continuous leak of the hot water which was concerning as there is a sign upon entering the apartment mentioning a small water heater. With some finagling I was able to get it to stop. Entering the dark and musty bedroom you find more stains and carpet lifting up around the edges. I imagine the mold smell has something to do with what is underneath the carpet. The bed was fine and bedding was clean. Wash machine has mold growing in the soap dispenser so after that I booked at The Grand York Hotel. This is a bachelor party sleeping quarters.

The location in the heart of York was brilliant.

The free parking is a nightmare. Unable to get into allocated space, and unable to add car to permit system due to all 100 permits being in use. Tried calling owners 27 times, but they never answered. Wasted nearly an hour sorting it out! The flats location up a dark narrow alleyway The really dangerous spiral staircase. No light switches to turn on a light in order to go down the stairs. Dangerous in the dark. The lack of a fire escape from the lower floor. Electric extension leads plugged into other extension leads. Damp patches on the lower floor bedroom. Broken toilet seat in the lower floor bathroom Toilets not cleaned properly. Mould on the tiles in the downstairs bathroom Poor decoration in numerous locations No wi-fi signal even having followed owners instructions. Only 5 channels on TV, all of which were Arabic religious channels. isn't York in the UK? Smart TV only had a patchy / buffering signal. Kept stopping with errors. Impossibly to get a normal mobile phone signal.

Location was good. Could be a really lovely little apartment.

We had several issues with the apartment. I don’t feel the apartment is safe or sanitary for families to stay in. The fire door between the hall and living area was wedged back, if it had closed there would be no means of escape as the handle was missing. The apartment felt dirty and there was rubbish left on the floor in some rooms. Surfaces were sticky. When we arrived the toilet seat in the downstairs bathroom was placed on the floor next to it. There is a sharp wobbly tile in the downstairs bathroom that my partner caught his foot on. The bedroom floor was damp to the touch with visible staining from being left wet (It looks like the bathroom plumbing may be damaged causing the leak into the bedroom) The smell in the apartment was very unpleasant. And on returning home I have had to wash even the clothes we did not wear as they have a damp smell from being left in the apartment for a few hours. We had luke warm showers on the first day, but could not shower again due to the temperature being so low.
