The Loutrel

We recently spent 3 nights at this incredible property, at the suggestion of friends who had visited Charleston and had stayed at The Loutrel in June. From the moment one of the lovely doorman (I think Rafael was his name) greets you and helps with your luggage, to the easy check-in and the welcome cocktail from the lovely Emily, we knew we had selected a property that values service. The property itself is beautiful, clean, close to many areas of interest to tourists, near great restaurants, etc. Also, quiet! We stayed in a Petite King, and still felt it had plenty of room. We were celebrating our 27th anniversary, and the hotel thoughtfully left us a bottle of chilled sparkling wine with a nice note. The bed was very comfortable/the shower was excellent. The added/included perks here- the delicious and plentiful breakfast, the local snacks, sparkling and still water bottles, and the nightly happy hour- really added value to our stay. Both bartenders (Leah and Riley) at the nightly event were wonderful, too, and Riley offered some excellent restaurant suggestions. Finally, shout out to Logan and Luis who were helpful and also made great suggestions for things to do in Charleston. Both the cleaning staff and wait staff were professional, too. There are many beautiful hotels in Charleston, and The Loutrel is certainly one of them. But where the hotel really shined was the hospitality and warmth of its staff. I sincerely hope we get back to this beautiful city, and if if we do, my first reservation will be back at The Loutrel.

This was a special experience from start to finish. Great location, easily walkable round the historic district and likely beyond. Great restaurants 2-5 min walk. Very comfortable well appointed rooms with excellent beds and plenty of wonderful courtesy drinks and snacks. The hotel provides a high quality breakfast and a really nice hour of courtesy drinks each afternoon. The staff were wonderful. Nothing is too much trouble. We would love to return if we’re back in Charleston.

This hotel is absolutely darling, with the best Southern hospitality and excellent location. We were supposed to stay one night and a cancelled flight meant staying an extra night which Emily at the front desk was able to quickly assist us with. We were happy to stay longer! Our room came with a welcome cocktail, free mini bar full of local favorites and breakfast. Turn down service was done with ninja like precision, we left the room briefly and came back to find fresh cookies on the nightstand and our beds ready for the evening. We had a car because we drove from another city and the valet was always super quick to grab it. When we had to depart at 5am and there was no valet on duty, the woman at the front desk went and got the car for us and warmed it up as the weather had turned chilly. She went above and beyond, I'm sorry I didn't catch her name. The location in the French Quarter was perfect, very walkable to numerous restaurants and shopping. There is a little street noise but absolutely zero noise from neighboring rooms. We absolutely will stay again on our next visit to Charleston.

From check in to checkout The Loutrel didn’t disappoint. We even stayed an extra night. The hotel is quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Great location in French Quarter for dining, sightseeing! Smaller check in lounge and bar area which is cozy if want to relax and fun way to meet people at afternoon happy hour. Breakfast was different each of 3 days with fresh fruit, bakery, egg and meats etc. A non alcoholic fridge in room and a mezzanine floor open 24/7 were part of the room price with lots of local food treats, water, sodas, cold coffee brews and more. Staff were always very warm, friendly and helpful. Thank you The Loutrel for making our 3 days in Charleston extra comfortable and special.

This was our first trip to Charleston but will not be our last. The city was unbelievable but the highlight of the trip was The Loutrel. The moment you walk in you are treated like royalty with a warm greeting and welcome treat and snacks. The service and rooms were impeccable, with high end furnishings, super clean and well stocked with drinks and snacks. The hotel went above and beyond to make us feel special for my wife's birthday. We will stay no other place then The Loutrel next time we come.

From the moment we met Rafael at the door, through check-in, everyone we met was just an exercise in hospitality. The hotel itself is very warm and welcoming. A collateral benefit is that it is ideally located, walkable to everything. I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and this is one of my favorites,

Carl is the best. He is extraordinarily thoughtful, kind, and considerate he made all of us feel so welcome and he was helpful to everyone. I could not imagine anybody better than Carl to work as a valet. He is an extraordinary asset to the little trail. You are lucky to have someone this good.

Great hotel. Beautiful, clean rooms, great bar and the location is perfect. Low key , small and luxurious. Onsite, valet parking. Located right in the French Quarter near the best restaurants but still in a quiet area. Staff is very nice and helpful.

Once again, a wonderful experience. Every member of the staff was excellent and attentive to the details that make a usual stay something special. Rafael Abreu is particularly wonderful!

The service and accommodations were excellent!! Our room was beautiful with an outside patio that we also enjoyed. Our valet, Rafael, went the extra mile for us in helping us with our luggage following checkout.
