Rupa Rupa High Jungle Eco B&B

Really lovely little property with kind staff. We had booked a quadruple panoramic jungle view room for 3, but they did not have it when we checked in. They tried to put us in a room with only one queen bed, but after a quick discussion they gave us another queen room. No panoramic views though. I also forgot some USD there and the staff went out of their way to get it back to me (although it took a while). Overall we liked our stay and wished we could have stayed longer.

I got the classic double, it was right below where breakfast is served so it was very loud first thing in the morning and the room stayed pretty light even at night and especially during the day. there were a few bugs, nothing too bothersome and I was pleasantly surprised that I never ran out of hot water in the shower as some of the reviews said that was an issue. It was a decent stay but the stairs were a bit much and I am relatively young and healthy, I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues and I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Worst experience! We were met at the train station and escorted to the hotel (which was a plus) by a very nice man. Surprise! An unannounced climb of 100 difficult, steep steps that smelled of human excrement just to get to the hotel lobby, awaited us. Thankfully some of our luggage was carried for us by him. Sadly our room smelled strongly of a mixture between humidity, cat urine and disinfectant . The room had no bottled water available and we had been told not to drink water from the faucet in Peru. We arrived at night in order to enter Machu Pichu early the next day. We wanted to bathe and go to sleep for our early start. To our surprise, there was no hot water. My partner called the hotel manager and she was told that they had forgotten to turn on the water heater and they suggested we wait 10 minutes. Although we waited 30 minutes, we still had no hot water. We complained again. The manager suggested to my partner that she go to another room downstairs to bathe, so she carried all of her things there and found a small trickle of hot water. A few minutes after she began to bathe, the hot water turned cold. By the time she dressed and went to complain again, the manager (aka -only 1 front desk clerk) had left for the night. There is only a night watchman after 10:30 pm. This was all very irritating. Once we turned off the lights to attempt to sleep we realized that the bedroom door, made of glass, and the large wall to wall window had no covering that would help make the room dark at night. Without black-out curtains the room was quite illuminated all night. The breakfast is served on the third floor and if your room is on the second floor, you will be woken up at 5:30 am with the sound of chairs and tables being dragged across the floor above you. So… if you want to stay at a hotel with a pleasant smell, where the room looks like the photos online, that offers drinking water, that has hot water to bathe and is relatively quiet at 5:40 am, and that has blackout curtains, do not stay here. You will not like it. At least do not stay on the second floor. Do not bring any luggage, and do not intend to bathe at night nor sleep in a dark room. Other than that, the bed and pillows were quite comfortable, the breakfast was good. It consisted of scrambled eggs and pancakes and fruit and cereal and yogurt. Coffee and juice were available and there is a beautiful view of the mountains and jungle. So in fact, it is a bed and breakfast. Those were the best parts of our stay. Sadly with the pandemic and the protests that shut down this entire area to tourism, every positive review counts and sadly I cannot recommend this hotel to you.

The staff at Rupa Rupa took great care of us. They were amazing! They kept our room clean with fresh towels. The breakfast was delicious. You can tell they do everything with love and kindness!

Worst hotel i have ever stayed in my life. The room was full of mosquitos & bugs. We killed 100 bugs or more each night just to try to get some sleep. Dont stay here.

Getting there was not easy at all, the stairs have too many steps and they are dangerous, they don't seep the dirt nor the fallen leaves so you gotta be very careful, and if you have heavy suitcases it's going to be even more difficult. The internet was bad, there was no soap.. just a little bag of shampoo. And there is too much noise, you just can´t relax because you can hear everything going on outside even the loud music they have.

Omar was extremely helpful, from meeting us at the train to checking us in, he and the other staff accommodated any needs we had! We can’t wait to stay here again. They views were amazing!
