Belvilla Newport City Centre Hotel - Lifestyle

Do not book this hotel. I booked three rooms for a group and one month before arrival, they cancelled the three bookings. The "Guest Experience Manager" said the rooms were not up to OYO Hotels standard and so he cancelled our booking. He tried to reassure me that we would not be charged any money for this booking! He felt I should be grateful not to be charged for a cancelled booking!! This is not a proper hotel. They have no idea how to run a hotel and they should be removed from all Internet booking platforms. We are left without accommodation having been dumped by this hotel. Avoid Avoid Avoid!

Stayed many times here but not recently until yesterday. The previous owners did not run the hotel well. However it is back to being run by good effective and friendly staff, breakfast is back on too. I will be back.

We booked this hotel and paid in full last year for next weekend when I am running the Newport Marathon. We were contacted last night to say that our room had been cancelled due to 'some unavoidable circumstances'. They claimed they had tried to phone (they had not), did not respond to messages and the contact number provided at booking does not even exist. We have spent the last 24hrs trying to get our money back as hotels.com's initial position was that we had to get the refund from the hotel (that is impossible to contact). The hotel also had removed the cancellation message from the chat which makes me think they may well be trying to claim a no show and refuse to refund. We are now left without a hotel the week before we are arriving with very little accommodation available at obviously premium pricing so if you want to be sure you have a room when you arrive in Newport then do not book this hotel under any circumstances!!

Booked via a booking.com. Turned up early asking to leave our case, was told no, left luggage was full. We left and looked at each other with wrinkled noses, I couldn't stay there as it stunk of drains. I went back in and explained we'd cancelled, when I why I was honest without being rude. I was told I would still be charged, thankfully not, I had free cancellation option. Currently in a lovely room in the mercure with a stunning view, and room was ready when we arrived at 1pm! We were actually done a favour when they refused to look after our case. Room is £20 more but, worth every penny. It's sad as we've previously stayed at the hotel when it was the salurian and loved it.

Really impressed! Working trip. Great room - good lights for working at desk. Comfy bed. The room was super clean. Breakfast in morning was better than expected & all the milks / fruit etc were carefully labelled showing great hygiene diligence. My main contact with staff was a lady - name began with R . She was a star. I do think the hotel needs to get better signage as it’s not clear from the pathway as to whether it’s an office or hotel. I will look forward to staying there again. BTW the Newport Market which has an awesome food market is very close to hotel. I had great Greek food & a cheesecake for a sensible price. Thanks R & your staff Great stay

Excellent stay, only downside was unable to open room windows and air con does not work. Extremely warm in room but staff and facilities were on point

Me and my husband stayed for 1 night which we picked due to the great central location for food and drinks - the room was spacious, bed was comfortable, good shower in a lovely bathroom and the room was mostly clean. There were a few burn holes in the carpet and the windows could be doing with a proper clean but didn’t bother us. There was a bit of a musty smell, mainly in the corridors. Hotel is next to a nightclub so it was a bit noisy but we had ear plugs so didn’t bother is too much (I think the reception staff give guests ear plugs if asked so it must be a common complaint). Cooked breakfast buffet style was nice and set us up for the day ahead. Overall, not a bad stay and suited our needs for 1 night.

Very good quality for money paid. Very nice self-service breakfast plenty offers and clean.

I had a wonderful time at the hotel. We were treated well by the staff. One name I would like to mention is Mr. Rohit. He took care of everything for us. The hospitality and breakfast really appreciable. I would urge you guys to have a dedicated parking section for the hotel.
