Buahan, a Banyan Tree Escape

Our stay at Banyan Tree Hotel in Bali was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, we felt surrounded by serenity and warmth. The design of the resort is breathtaking — a perfect blend of nature and luxury. The No Walls No Doors concept was one of the most unique experiences we’ve ever had, and it was actually the main reason we chose to stay here. It gave us a sense of openness, freedom, and connection with nature that made our time unforgettable. The service was exceptional — every staff member treated us like family, always smiling and making sure every detail was perfect. Their kindness made our stay feel personal and special. A highlight of our trip was the private waterfall. It’s a beautiful, peaceful spot that feels like a hidden paradise. We truly appreciated this experience and highly recommend it.

For improvement, we’d suggest adding a small amenity box near the waterfall area — with towels or mats to sit on after crossing the river. It would make the experience even more comfortable. Also, it would be great if the villa pool lights could be turned off at night or have a switch control, as they stayed on all night and slightly affected our sleep. Overall, Banyan Tree Hotel in Bali exceeded our expectations. It’s an experience filled with beauty, calmness, and romance — one that stays in your heart long after you leave.

I stayed here with a friend and absolutely loved it! We did a hike to the waterfall and morning yoga- both activities were truly unforgettable! The food is amazing , and the whole hospitality was truly superb. I will come back.

The room was immaculate, beautifully designed, and perfectly private — the infinity pool overlooking the jungle felt like paradise. The staff made the experience truly special: kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every detail, from the breakfast to the acricities, reflected exceptional quality and thoughtfulness. A perfect balance between luxury, peace, and authenticity — highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the best of Bali and honeymoon we really enjoyed .

Our stay at Banyan Tree was absolutely wonderful, made truly special by our amazing host, Adi. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel welcome and took care of every little detail with such thoughtfulness. When I couldn’t make it to the mocktail botanist activity, Adi arranged an ad-hoc session just for me. When we had a 2 a.m. hike and needed an early dinner, he made it happen seamlessly. He even helped store my breastmilk safely in the main freezer, personally ensuring it was properly wrapped and separated. Adi’s care went beyond expectations. After we checked out and finished our spa session, he realised the spa showers were occupied and immediately arranged for us to return to our villa instead—just so we could freshen up comfortably before our flight. That level of initiative and thoughtfulness truly stood out. He even stayed back after hours to celebrate my husband’s birthday surprise. It’s rare to meet someone so dedicated and genuine. We’re deeply grateful to Adi for making our stay so memorable and can’t wait to return to Banyan Tree—hopefully with him as our host again! 🌺

Buahan Bantan Tree Escape is an experience unlike any other holiday. Their special concept immersed us into the most peaceful and spiritual time and we felt connected to nature in the most beautiful jungle setting. The villas with no windows or walls are unique and stunning with everything that you could need but all well thought out using only natural materials, the copper bath was an incredible feature. If you can book bale 12 you will not be disappointed with the view of the 7 peaks from your bed when you wake. It also benefits from a heated pool and we enjoyed 34 degrees dips at night! Our room host Budi was super attentive and helped with all arrangements and requests including a day with the local taxi driver that collected us from the airport Sukha and he took us to many places around Ubud which was a great day. We had 3 spa massages, a body scrub and the flower bath and all were amazing with the perfect setting and view of rice fields. We also booked the romantic package which included a visit to a local farm and foraging for a cooking class afterwards with dChef Madi who became a great friend for our stay. He cooked for our special Jungle affair meal which was delicious and the most beautiful setting in the pavilion which was decorated with candles and flowers, definitely recommend for a romantic night! Madi also made us special meal requests such as a local curry and he is a great chef. The plant based set menu is a great experience too. The thing that stood out most during our trip was the kindness of all the team who were so happy and attentive. We felt genuinely sad to leave and everyone came to say goodbye, we cannot wait to return. We got engaged at our next hotel in Nusa Dua and Buahan’s lovely manager Puspa surprised us by sending a card photo and champagne gifts which we are truly touched and grateful of. We visited here for 2 night (total 3days) and it was the best stay among 7days bali trip. The location is yes, quite far from Ubud (it took approx. 1hr from the Ubud centre) but totally worth it. We recommend to check the activities before visiting Buahan because we recommend to try as much activity provided from Buahan. We tried to participate daily activities provided, and we enjoyed all of them. To list a few: 1. Waterfall trekking: We went with a guide Yogi. The path was quite rough and we needed to trespass the river at the end, but totally worth it. Yogi shared stories about the cultural heritage and traditions, the meaning of waterfall, how to make and offering and etc while we are walking down to the waterfall. He also provided water and towel so no worries for the guest. Personally, walking down was harder than coming up (the stairs are slippery) so be cautious for those who are planning to try. 2. Boreh scrub: Two of the spa therapists helped us making are own scrub. They showed us the ingredients and let us know the name of each. Therapists informed us the ratio of each ingredients for best scrub paste. They provide enough amount for two of us and taught us how to use it by demonstrating at the class. We used the day we made as informed, and surprised how the skin got so smooth and felt refreshed. I am so willing to try to make again back home. 3. Botanist story: Arsana guide us how to make our own mocktail and how to balance the flavor. For the day we join, we were able to make a mocktail based on aromatic ginger(with two other leaves). It was amazing to learn how each ingredients can bring up the flavor (chili syrup for spicy and etc). Learning how to integrate the flavors in the best balance was so worth it. Later on, Arsana made our seasonal drink based on our preference, for example, sweet and spicy, it was amazingly surprising and so tasty that I had to order cocktail every evening. 4 YO Arak in clay pot was also amazing. 4. Farm tour: Yoga guided us to the Buahan farm. We were interested in the phrase of '70% of the ingredients are grown and harvested from the Buahan farm' so we were so glad we were able to visit the farm. Yoga and the farm keeper let us know each plant, how it smell, and how the plant grows. We also learned some interesting stories for some plants. (avoid pumpkin for black magic..!) Not only from the farm, we were able learn plants on the pathway so we were able to notify which was which as we walk by or see as we relax in our room. We even borrowed the book "paon" to look more into the balinese dishes. adding up with the farm, the food from Buahan was amazing. All of the dishes that we had had fresh flavor. We almost order every dish menu provided in the morning and did not leave any leftover. so delicious. We also love and respect supporting the local farmers. All of the activities were such a wonderful and valuable time that I wish other Buahan visitors also try. The 'No walls No door' bale was also comfortable. less bugs than expected and really cozy to stay. we loved the couch, bed, copper bath tub, shower and everything. We just hope the entrance to be closed still. the entrance opens up so easily we were quite concerned about our privacy while we were using the pool. (the pool is right in front of the entrance) The view of the Buahan was so interesting that it changed every moment based on the change of the weather. We had both sun and rain during the stay and experiencing both weather was so valuable. It was such a pleasure to visit this place. We love the experience of being a part of a nature and respect the local. Thank you for all staff for supporting our cozy stay.
