Nice Japanese minimalist modern design room, super clean and neat, lighting very welcome

Almost nothing, juts hope it may have some storage space that can hanging clothes, put luggages inside

Friendly service. Fabulous room with hot spring bath and stunning valley view. Excellent public Onsen facilities. Superb dinner and breakfast. Private shuttle service to local attractions, such as the Pola Museum and Hakone ropeway.

We stayed one night for our honeymoon in May 2026. It was our first trip to Japan and Gen Hakone Gora. After 4 days in Tokyo, it was a much needed reset and change of pace. The hotel and facilities are intimate, beautiful and extremely comfortable. It was one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we liked the fact that it was boutique style and smaller. The staff is exceptional. The private and public Onsen are first class and were thoughtfully designed and maintained. We were upgraded to the SEN suite because it was our honeymoon. Our personal concierge and staff member Mai was incredibly sweet, thoughtful and enjoyable to be around. She is absolutely amazing and we talk about her all the time even after our trip. I hope you see this Mai and I hope hotel management shows her this review and recognizes that she made our stay at the hotel the best night ever. Mai deserves a ton of recognition. We had massages in the room which were great. The traditional kaiseki meal will be challenging for foreigners with limited courage and who are picky eaters with specific tastes. I enjoyed the different dishes and flavours because it was a very different experience but if you are more “meat and potatoes” you can opt for a beef course which my wife thoroughly enjoyed - point being, you will be satisfied regardless of your preferences. I hope we have the chance to stay at Gen Hakone Gora again soon. - Michael and Caitlyn.

Nothing bad to say. We are well-travelled and thought it was excellent. I would ignore any negative reviews and book this hotel with complete confidence. It is romantic and an amazing experience.

The hotel was very beautiful and the rooms were clean, spacious, modern, and beautiful. Everything about the hotel and room felt luxurious and well thought out.

Unfortunately we didn’t particularly care for the traditional Japanese food. Although it had a beautiful presentation it was not to our liking. We understand this was a traditional Japanese experience but we did not care for what we ate. The service and the facilities were top notch.

This hotel is unbelievable, very well appointed rooms, lovely staff, great meals, excellent views, truly wonderful experience. Best ryokan style hotel of our trip by far. We particularly loved the small touches - the oragami on the take, the binoculars to look at the mountain, the speaker to set our vibe, the yoga mats, and the very nice skincare products for the morning routine with a view. The in-suite onsen was wonderful, the shower had a fantastic view. The meals were very good, and served with care in-room by the lovely staff. A very special experience.
