Artist Residence Bristol

Loved it

Short: recommend for short lazy trips, particularly for couples. Less suitable for extended stays, particularly working holidays. Long: while overall lovely, there were multiple things which were a little off and dismissed as either quirkiness of an “artist hotel”, an old building, or “standard practice”. However, as some greatly experienced with the hotel industry, these are more purposeful misdirections. There were many, but a few include: - the hotel is not “reasonably” accessible, and the elevator does not serve all floors. Keep in mind if you have mobility issues or significant luggage. - difficult to work if you are taking a “remote working holiday”. The “laptop work surface” in the rooms are just tiny low coffee tables with trendy big chairs that you’ll have to hunch over and your back will hurt in short order. - their LOVELY library is not a dedicated space, as it gets rented out and therefore can’t always be used by the guests (an issue compounded by the issue noted above), - the bar adjacent space is an alternative workspace for the above, but it is basically in a corridor slave and has loud-ish music, making concentration and calls difficult.

Pet friendly, professional and always so welcoming. We love the artist residence and highly recommend it

Front desk attendant was rarely there. We needed to bang on the door on repeated occasions to be let in to the hotel

Had a great 3 night stay - the location was far enough away from the main hustle and hustle but close enough to walk to everywhere you need to go. The room was large and clean - really loved the roll top bath. We ate at the restaurant and drank at the bar both provided great choice and excellent service. Thanks to all the staff there they were both professional and friendly and made for a fantastic stay.

Such a unique hotel and so thought through down to the very last detail. Everything felt luxurious yet homely and individual. I had the best nights sleep here I’ve had in a long time. They manage to simultaneously provide luxury while being sustainable. The shower was amazing. We enjoyed a drink in the evening in the restaurant/bar that has a really lovely vibe to it and we had a very generous breakfast there in the morning. Thank you so much, we will hopefully return in the future!

Design is lovely, location was nice if you're heading to the shops or want to be in the city. Room was nicely done, decor is stunning, the bar is cool and little outside garden is cute. Bath was great, staff were friendly. Menu looked incredible and we were excited for our last minute one night stay in Bristol.

So the name of the rooms is deceptive. Artists Residence have their own room naming on their website but on Booking.com the room called the "King Room" you'd think would be a room with a king size bed, however it isn't - it's just a large double bed. We're not that big but this wasn't that comfy for us and for £200 a night we were annoyed we'd missed this detail. The bar was open when we got there but when we checked in about dinner it turned out the restaurant was closed on a Sunday night, we got the same issue for breakfast on Monday morning, the option of a continental only - depsite the website and menu saying it was open each day from 7.30 and the menu looking really great. We'd previously stayed at another Artists Residence hotel and the food was amazing, we love great food - this was part of the reason we booked so ultimately we left disappointed.

We stayed for two nights in the Artists Suite at the Artist Residence Bristol for the night before and the night of my wedding. The space was absolutely perfect for 10 of us girls getting ready in the morning and staff were so accommodating at taking our breakfast orders and bringing up brekkie to the room (which was delicious) they then kindly tidied up and decorated for our arrival back that evening as newlyweds. The space is beautiful designed and the light in the room is stunning. All the products provided are top quality which made it extra special.
