Good experience: - The royal restaurant is generally better at food quality and you get bottled drinks - The swimming pools are well maintained and feel clean - The royal experience desk staff is super friendly and helpful - Evening live music is good - The beach is good to have as a marketing advantage, but it’s not maintained and practically abandoned - Hotel car parking was never an issue Bad experience: - The hotel claims it’s not allowed to reserve sunbeds. If you’re 2 minutes late though (opens at 9:00), you’re not going to find anything available. The “racing” queue starts at around 8:30 and it’s just pathetic. Why does the hotel allow this behavior? See photos. - Dead cockroaches inside and outside the restaurants (not very royal if you ask me) - Very bad outside cleaning in general, stains and just dirty when it gets wet - The bars are supposed to serve food/snacks until 17:30 and the drinks until 18:00. In reality, the food section guy leaves for the day around 17:00 and the cocktails stop at 17:20-17:30 (you can still get regular stuff like soda though) - based on the Goa bar experience - The food choices are not very friendly if one doesn’t eat pork. There were days when 4 out of 5 options were pork. I understand it’s cheaper but some inclusiveness would be appreciated nonetheless Conclusion: good hotel. A bit worn down. Could use some proper cleaning. I wouldn’t stay here more than once. Thank you very much for the warm welcome and the stay!

"Our 2025 visit experience"

Great Royal area. Super equipped and beautiful gym as well as Olympic swimming pool. Personnel is very friendly. Room was nice though coffee machine was broken and toilet kept flushing. Overall building was a bit aged and not perfectly maintained.

"Another great visit 😀"

10.0

This was our 2nd stay at the hotel on an all inclusive basis Royal Level. We booked the hotel directly via the Barcelo app and flights separately from the UK. There were plenty of taxis available at the airport & the transfer was around 15 minutes for just over 20 euros. We had a few minor issues with our room which were sorted out promptly by a very friendly & helpful representative. We mainly stayed on the Royal Level side and used the Asana restaurant which we found excellent with good quality drinks served to you at the table. Breakfast choices were superb!!! The addition of the lounge area was also great for pre & post dinner drinks. We also visited the Italian & Japanese al a carte restaurants which again were excellent. We never struggled to get a sun-bed at the Goa pool but would ensure we were down relatively early (9am) and enjoyed all the entertainment that was on offer. My son in particular looked forward to the 12pm challenge at the breeze pool. If you are active, the Olympic pool, gym, run & bike routes are ideal. Overall this was a very enjoyable, relaxing holiday and we would not hesitate to return. Thank you to all staff for your continued hard work.

"I wish there was a 3.5* level."

6.0

First of all , let me state that we did have a wonderful family holiday. The positives are the Royal Level Restaurant and Lounge bar which were both very good , and if you are that way inclined, the fitness facilities are very good too. There is a downside though. First, there are simply not enough sunbeds for the size of the hotel and without a beach within walking distance, this led to a queue every morning (starting at around 0800 for a 0900 "opening") for sunbeds. There were 7 of us in our party so one of us (me) had to queue every morning otherwise we simply would not have been able to sit together. Secondly, we had to complain 3 separate times when our room wasn't cleaned. When it was, it was to a minimum standard, Cups weren't cleaned and tea and coffee items weren't replaced. It seemed to be just a towel replacement service. The same thing happened to another room in our party. Finally, the pool bar wasn't well staffed or managed. Quite often there would be a queue being served by one staff member while two others would be chatting or pottering about which did cause frustration particularly if a person in front of you ordered 5 mojitos!! It's worth noting that my wife and I have stayed at the hotel twice before (although out of term time) and upon reflection it does appear that, compared with our previous visits, standards have fallen a little.

"Summer family holida"

10.0

This was our second year coming to Barcelo, we requested a sea view room this year and it was lovely. Very clean, all staff very helpful friendly and obliging. O Royal level pool and pool bar are great and not too busy. Two teenage daughters wandered around quite a bit on their own and it was really safe environment.

"Royal Level delights"

8.0

Barcelo Lanzarote Royal Level AI. Room 2319 (Deluxe Junior Suite): 30 seconds from the Royal Lounge and about 90 seconds from the RL pool or to the Breeze Pool/bar. Room was possibly a bit smaller than we had hoped for (small sink area in bathroom), but the hotel did accommodate a request for an extra single bed so our kids didn't have to share. The room was clean (bar one cigarette end from previous guests left on the balcony, noticed partway through our week). Hotel marked an occasion with cava on arrival.A/C is fine. Room is serviced well - lots of towels and 4x waters each day (we also had a mini bar to use on day one) and requests for things via the app are actioned quickly, such as more hangers. Noise can be an issue as the layout/design helps amplify later returners - guests need to remember to keep quiet when walking through. Royal Level lounge drinks and atmosphere are fab for pre - and post dinner drinks. It was getting busier towards the end of our stay. Asana breakfast is 100% - made to order French toast, eggs benedict, etc. Cava if you wish. We had a poor couple of Asana meals (one lunch and one dinner... more so very random food), and tried Olivina for one lunch (decent). However, overallAsasna food was very good. The Mexican themed food at Asana, with live music & white chocolate fountain, was 100%. RL Goa pool snacks made by George are great (he is a top member of staff, so friendly) - nachos, toasties, salads included (other things are payable which were originally AI included when we looked at menus upon booking). We do nip to the Breeze Pool bar for wings etc (having some of these grab and go snacks, plus self serve soft drinks at the RL Goa Pool bar would improve it) - the pool is lovely, and rarely too busy. It did feel like new staff are constantly at the RL Goa Bar - needing help from colleagues for cocktails (we all have to train in jobs, and perhaps I am just unlucky to get uncertain staff most times). We used the Italian for our included A La Carte - atmosphere a bit off, but good food (too much food overall as our two kids got the same meal options [starter, main, dessert]). Cleanliness and upkeep in some general/common areas across the resort (even around the seating) is much poorer than the only other AI we have ever been too (3hb Clube Humbria, Portugal) - seeing leftover glasses etc around areas in the morning is a simple fix. The toilets in Portugal were always immaculate day and night, but here they are often poorly maintained for the volume of folk (a good refresh is needed in these areas). This is the only real gripe, perhaps the readiness of the bars also (not enough ice, needing to grab mint etc just slowed the service). Sunbed wise... Royal Level pool had several free loungers each/all day, but as we ended our stay, the hotel was noticably busier, so this may change. The Pods (7 in total) were lovely to get and use as a family - but did require queuing from maybe 830am. We used them for full days bar nipping for food. We noticed that the Breeze pool had none or maybe singles when passing at say 945am each day. Overall, there are not enough beds there. Lack of shade/umbrellas seems to be a hotel wide issue at the pools. If you are a runner, I was out for two 13k-ish runs - promenade and up towards volcanoes, etc - roads and paths are great. Entertainment was good, but seating at La Plaza can be limited (disco, bingo, acrobats, etc). The kids iron activity was fantastic- busy exercising for almost 2hours (hat and suncream needed) - we had thought all kids got a t-shirt for taking part but only three got one (just a warning if you think the kids get the same reward as adults doing the iron guest Wednesday challenge). For us, the icing on the cake for our entire stay was the Royal Level White Party on Saturday, 3-5pm. - the sax and violin player, plus DJ was memorable. Luca, Hannah, and Eva made for a very enthusiastic entertainment team. Weighing it all up now that we are home, we would say our stay was enjoyable (possibly 8/10 overall). We are not sure we would rush back (to Lanzarote in general), but we would recommend the hotel, especially Royal Level, to others. (P.S. The airport was chaos last night)

"Lovely Stay!"

8.0

Review Returned today from our 11 night stay. Had a brilliant time. Please bear in mind we went royal level and stayed mainly on this side of the resort. Royal level day entertainment brilliant, acrobatics, sax and violin player etc. Wechose to spend most meal times in Royal level asana restaurant, much calmer and more relaxed still plenty of food choice but not an overwhelming buffet. Breakfast in asana, a la carte station really good eggs Benedict, omelette etc. Went to Olivina restaurant for lunch a few times too. Food was also good here. A lot of choice. Royal lounge bar, lovely atmosphere. Husband and I played cards here most nights, live music on each night. Champs bar: used one of our la carte voucher there. Food was lovely. Given a starter, main, dessert and drink with voucher. Anything off the menu. A lot of choice! Used second voucher at Dolce Vita, this was lovely, again starter, main, dessert and drink. Ignore the app that says you have limited choice, they let you pick anything off the whole menu. Staff were friendly and restaurant is beautiful. Drinks choices amazing, brands and great cocktails such as Hugo/ aperol spritz and espresso martinis. Best drinks options of all hotels I have been to. Royal level deluxe suite was beautiful and modern, well cleaned and replenished each day. Gym fantastic, best hotel gym I have seen and was never too over crowded. Although we had an amazing holiday there were some areas of improvement but nothing that would ruin your stay! Pool cleanliness, kids pool royal side can appear dirty. Pool side floor and tables can appear dirty, Some tiles need replacing around pool area. Often sit on sun loungers that are broken some of these need some tlc. Hallways of rooms and lifts are a little tired and could do with some tlc ( I know not the end of the world but would made a difference as the rest of the hotel grounds have been modernised) Royal level reception not open for evening guests arrival. Did not get welcome drink due to this. Sunbeds- Although we always got a bed because we went down at 9am (toddler with us) a lot of people waiting at the barrier was not necessary. Staff should remove towels of those who do not sit on the bed straight away, this would stop this issue. However the amount of comments on sunbeds was also not necessary, it adds to the problem, it did not ruin our stay. More of a plea to other guest rather than the hotel, just be courteous of others as well as cleaning up after yourselves around the pool. Often rubbish left by loungers when the hotel grounds are full of rubbish bins to use. Costa teguise is windy, no one wanted your rubbish blowing around and in the pools. Showers for guests with late checkout. Rooms not available to extend due to peak season and showers by royal pool were in the toilets that often appear dirty and have cockroaches. Thankfully located clean showers at the back of the gym so tip if you have a late flight, use those instead! A clean area for guests to freshen up would really go a long way. Despite these ‘niggles’ and I say niggles because it really is just things that could improve the hotel… We had a lovely stay and our toddler really enjoyed himself. Would return in the future!

"Royal Level just keeps getting better"

10.0

5th visit to this hotel and third as Royal Level. The Royal Level areas are fabulous, especially the Asana restaurant where the foos gets better each year, the lovely pool area and Goa bar and now the new RL lounge bar where there is live music most evenings. The rooms are also spacious and well equipped. The main areas of the hotel near the sea (we did not go up to the higher hotel) are also really nice and the pools are well maintained and the restaurant food very good. We thought the hotel was looking a bit jaded in some areas, wallpaper coming off the wall and the seats and cushions were stained but this is a small point and easily rectified. Without exception the staff were amazing. Barcelo hotels must do something really special to get such wonderful staff. Every hotel in the group we have been to is the same. They are smiling, friendly, good at thier jobs and great to be around. There was yoga 3 times a week on decking looking over the sea by a very experienced teacher called Marta and one of the animation team called Hannah - both very enjoyable. Aquagym and pool bike also lots of fun with lovely smiling animation team members in the main hotel. Lots of eveing entertainment with live music in a couple of the bars and a show in the Plaza. Many reviews mention the location and it is a bit isoalted with no shops or restaurants very near by. It is a 40 min walk into Costa teguise but is a lovely walk along the sea front and a taxi back for 5 euro. I did notice a new large Spar supermarket had opened a couple of blocks away. This hotel just gets better and better and we would certainly recommend. We'll be back

"Ocean view delux suite - where is the ocean?"

2.0

Just checked in Booked directly with the hotel Things went well at check in food buffet looks good However what a massive disappointment is the actual hotel. This is not a cheap holiday and this was not a basic room choice. Yet outside my room are Cockroaches, I am struggling to see the ocean from my ocean delux suite have been in touch with reception via their app essentially avoid room 2412 avoid I have had better views sea when paying £7 a night backpacking this is not what you anticipate when you pay extra for a sea view and a luxury 5 star AI experience
