Quirky but fab. Great views of the lake in the day and the stars at night. Ultra modern ultra clean. Small. Helpful staff.

We were welcomed at reception and escorted to our room to have the retractable sky light function and other room amenities explained. Breakfast each day was efficient with exact orders taken to minimise waste. Our room had amazing views of the lake and the night sky and we would definitely stay again if we visit Lake Tekapo

We liked the property, staff and service. But this is a Dark Sky community and we felt the strong outside lights shining up at the room from the property prevented viewing the southern night sky’s from our room. The outside lights need to be turned off.

Customer service is excellent. Rooms are clean and unit is big. It comes with simple free breakfast which we really appreciate the kind gesture. We had the lower deck 2 bedroom so could not have a ceiling view of the stars. My girls were a little disappointed but we can make do with it. I would recommend it to people whom can appreciate a small boutique hotel setup, and not have high expectations.

The Galaxy Boutique Hotel at Lake Tekapo is an excellent choice for a stay. Perched on a hill, it offers stunning lake views and is just a few minutes’ walk from the town center. The facilities are modern and impeccably clean, and the breakfast is delicious and satisfying

The room was beautiful and spacious! My favorite features were the huge window with a view of Lake Tekapo and the snow-capped mountains, and the skylight for the dark sky views. The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub, and the towels were spa quality. The room included a prepared breakfast along with continental options. The only downside was that it was about a 15 minute walk along a fairly busy highway to any restaurants or shopping, which were sparse. But all in all, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Galaxy Boutique Hotel.

This was my one splurge-stay during my 3 weeks travelling around the south island, and it was definitely worth it. Check-in was smooth and the girl on reception was super nice. She asked me what time I wanted to have my breakfast - but I was heading off early in the morning to Mt Cook. She said instead they could offer me continental breakfast which they'd bring up to my room shortly after check-in. I ordered muesli and yoghurt, but she also brought up a cappuccino sachet and a couple of energy bars. So nice! The room itself was beautiful and luxurious. The bathroom was so clean and I loved all the features like the mirror back-lighting and the rain shower. But of course the best thing was the amazing view of Lake Tekapo! I sat there and just watched the changing landscape as the sun set, warm and out of the wind. It was very peaceful. The lake is the most amazing blue I have ever seen, it's hard to describe. It's a very short and easy walk down into town, to the lake and to the supermarket. I actually only ended up finding this place online because when I booked my trip there was nowhere left to stay in Mt Cook Village except the hostel, and I wanted to stay somewhere close so I could start my hike early. In hindsight I'm super glad - I got to spend more time in this lovely town and had such a comfortable and peaceful night's sleep, waking periodically to look through the skylight and see the stars. I loved my stay here and would recommend it to anyone.
