The hotel does everything right, from checking in to checking out. The room was extremely well appointed. The bathroom was enormous and well stocked with amenities. Bath towels were large and fluffy, something not often found these days. Staff was professional, courteous and attentive. This is one of my favorite hotels to date!

This is the second time I have stayed at The Observatory. First time with my husband, second with my sister. The first time we were on the third floor, the room was well appointed, low ceiling in places, the second time was on the second floor. This time the room was quite small but included everything we needed. Very clean and lovely decor. We used the gym, small but enough with the treadmills and free weights. We loved the communal lounge with tea/ coffee facilities and a lovely place to relax, chat or read. Staff very friendly, smooth check in and check out. I made us of the car charger in their car park which was convenient. Great location in beautiful stone old university buildings. 5 minutes walk to the CBD
USThis is a quirky and unique hotel in amidst the ChristChurch Arts center, which in whole is housed on the former campus of a university...compete with academic building and cloisters, all re-purposed in a manner that totally characterizes he rebirth of ChristChurch since the earthquakes on 2010/11. It has all sort of cool nooks and crannies, and each room is unique, befitting the repurposing of the space. We were on the top floor of the old Physics building in a very cool room. Totally modernized, and well appointed, this Hotel Group has done a great job attending to details. Lots of cool restaurants and bars within walking distance, including a killer wine bar steps away; 10 minute walk from the heart of CBD. Also right across the street from the ChristChurch Botanic Garden. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Even if you just stay one night (as we did), it's a highy-recommendable experience.
USShort overnight stay, but what a wonderful, historical hotel! Reception staff made check in a breeze. Our room was ready on arrival, and we settled in nicely after a long travel day. Convenient location. Easy ealk to our dinner restaurant. Wishwe had more time.

What a lovely hotel with so much history! The rooms are very nice and clean with comfortable beds. They have a nice sitting area with tea, coffee, and cookies. There is a wine bar in the courtyard. Right across the street is the Botanical Gardens. We loved this hotel !
Beautiful building with very cozy and stylish room. I loved it and extended my stay. Would love to come back and spend more tone there. Reception was kind and i had no complaint for any service whole I was with them. Area also have lots of art and food yo enjoy.
UYThis is a lovely hotel in a neat building. Our room wasn’t large but was sufficient for a king bed and the shower in the bathroom had good pressure. The location near the beautiful botanical garden and museums was great. The breakfast which had been described as continental was much more varied and had lots of options such as waffles. We appreciated the wine in the living room in the late afternoon. Thank you for a nice stay.
