Bardstown Motor Lodge

This renovated motor inn is absolutely adorable! I loved the decor. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean and everything looked new with a retro vibe. We stayed mid-week, so it wasn’t crowded. The courtyard with the fire pits was fun at night. Several guests were out there and we enjoyed talking to people. The cocktails were nasty! Don’t order anything that isn’t canned. S’mores were good, but only available 1 night. The staff member didn’t know how to make a fire. This could be a problem for some people. There was no food beyond s’mores available on-site in the evening. The restaurant next door was really good. I would recommend this place and would stay here again.

Pros: Conveniently located. Kitschy vibe. Great little courtyard. Nice "lounge" area at the check/in with games, coffee maker, fireplace. Cons: The blind is only light-filtering, not room-darkening, which allowed so much light in from the outside "porch" (as well as the street light). It also had a broken piece that left a hole for even more light to enter. There were some kind of Dove Mens' Care product stickers affixed to the top of that window frame, which the cleaning person somehow failed to see and remove. We struggled with opening the main door from the inside. Perhaps that locking mechanism can be looked at (#4).

When my husband and I travel, we always try to stay somewhere unique—something more boutique-style rather than a typical chain hotel. When I found this place online, the reviews were mixed, but we decided to give it a try anyway. Unfortunately, our experience wasn’t great & the room wasn't worth what we paid. When we arrived, our room had been left open and unlocked by housekeeping, and there was a musty odor inside. The “blinds” were just a piece of cloth hanging over the window, which made it feel unfinished. The mid-century modern décor was cute, but that was about the only highlight. The walls were also very thin, so we could hear everything happening outside. I really wanted to love this renovated motel, but sadly, it just didn’t live up to the hype.

From check in to the easy check out our stay was great. The staff were so nice and helpful. The saltwater pool was awesome! Also loved the campfires and s'mores. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Adorable lodge with the friendliest staff.

Bardstown Motor Lodge is a minute away from historic downtown Bardstown. The property and room are modernized with a retro vibe. Our bed and bedding was comfortable. The best part was the heated saltwater pool and courtyard. We spent the evening in the courtyard, sitting next to a fire, making smores (they provided), getting drinks from their bar, and talking with other travelers. It was very relaxing.

Restaurant was short staffed

Loved the outdoor area. Everyone was so nice, Allen was outstanding!!!

Too much light coming into the room with no curtains, blinds only.
