SACRED STONE Boutique Hotel

We had the 3 bed on the top floor. The beds were average, but the shower had long lasting hot water. The room overlooks the river which made for good white noise. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the buses for Machu Picchu. There are plenty of restaurants and shops around as well. There are a few negatives to our stay. Because the hotel is along the railroad tracks, the trains can be heard starting very early. This may be a downside to some who like to sleep in. The train noise may be a problem for the whole city. The other was of of the guys working the front desk who offered to “help” get us a guide for the ruins. He quoted us $60us for a guide. He walked us over to get bus tickets and then said it was $70. 3 people heard him say $60. When asked, he then changed the price back seeming a bit miffed. I don’t like the bait and switch because we are tourists. I would not stay here again because of that especially when it is your own guests.

Location is perfect close to the station and bus to Machu Picchu. Staff were great really helpful.. he even came to drop me to the station sweet gesture.

Clean and well maintained

Good hotel to stay in for one night when visiting Machu Picchu. Located in a good area close to the center of the city and they provide breakfast early enough before you take the bus to MP. Nice beds as well. Comfortable stay. If you need to keep your bags for the hotel to watch after you check out, they do that as well.

All good apart from a bit moudy smell in the bathroom

Ficamos apenas uma noite na cidadela, para ir a Machu Picchu no dia seguinte. Fomos bem recebidos e tivemos todas as orientações necessárias. O café da manhã é bom, com uma boa diversidade e disponibilidade. O lado negativo ficou para a água do banho. A água não esquentou e tivemos que tomar banho frio. Por ser um único dia, não chegou a ser uma frustração, mas não é uma experiência boa, visto que não é uma região de temperaturas altas.

The hotel owner/staff was very accommodating, but sometimes he disappeared, and we couldn't locate him to answer a question or solve a problem. He was not knowledgeable about the town and where services are located, such as laundry services.

The rooms smelled strongly of mold, and everything, including the bedding, was damp. The bathrooms had visible black mold in the caulking. The bathrooms were also visibly grim—like they had not been properly cleaned in some time. My family was originally put into a room with no windows and next to no light. My daughter became visibly sick with a terrible headache. Then we asked to be moved and were put into another room with more windows. Overall, it was an overpriced, glorified motel. The pictures in the ad for this hotel were not accurate and only applied to one or two rooms in this hotel.
