"Innkeeper Jonell made our trip exceptional!"

10.0

What a lovely bed and breakfast! Jonell facilitated a warm and welcoming environment in the home, delicious and unique breakfasts every morning, and the house itself is a historical work of art. I proposed to my girlfriend during our vacation, and Jonell was the ultimate wing-woman in pulling off the surprise and making it extra special. She picked up champagne, rose petals, and a bouquet I ordered prior to our arrival. She also got creative with a tray of treats, tulle on the staircase, and flameless candles EVERYWHERE. Once we went out for the day, she coordinated with our out-of-state friends to setup the room so we could come back to romantic bliss. She thought of every detail and absolutely went above and beyond expectations to make our trip, and our special day, the best it could possibly be. I couldn't have pulled it off without her help, and it is a memory we will treasure for all the years to come. Sweet Olive is now our favorite forever and we will be back any time we're in town! Do yourself a favor and stay here (location rocks too, walkable to everything). Endless thanks to Jonell and all of the staff that made our stay possible.

"A wonderful place to stay in NO"

10.0

We had a wonderful stay at Auld Sweet Olive. Jonell, the host, made us feel very welcome from the moment we met her. She was very helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do as this was our first trip to NO.. The house is really cool--very colorful and charming. Lots of art work on the walls to admire! Our room was very comfortable and quiet. We had a private door to the pool area which was really nice. The pool/hot tub area is very relaxing. The swinging chair with the green cushion was my favorite place to relax after seeing the sights. The breakfasts are amazing! Pain au chocolates, fruit cups, quiche, coffee/juice etc....very filling and delicious....it's more than enough to give you a good head start on the day! We didn't have a car on this trip which was fine. The house is within walking distance of Frenchman Street and the French Quarter. Give Loretta's a try for some delicious beignets--its just down the street. We would definitely stay here again on another trip to NO.

"Home Sweet Home Sweet Olive"

10.0

My husband and I went to NOLA in October 2025 and stayed at Auld Sweet Olive. Such a great place. Truly sweet. Jolene, the Innkeeper was so kind, helpful and accommodating. Always a friendly smile. Their breakfasts are yummy. The grounds are lovely. And, you feel at home there. Great atmosphere. Nice people. Has character and is clean. So much better than staying in the noisy French Quarter but close enough to get places.

"3 Days at Auld Sweet Olive"

10.0

We were welcomed to Auld Sweet Olive Bed & Breakfast by Jonell. Jonell was formerly the editor of the Limited Magazine that published Michael’s poetry for almost 10 years. She moved to New Orleans and is an innkeeper near the French Quarter. Our room was very comfortable with AC and an overhead fan - plenty of lights - devices to recharge our phones. We had a closet and chest so we didn’t live out of the suitcase. The bathroom was quite adequate for our use! We never heard other guests in the evening or if they left early in the morning it was quiet. Everything was always clean in the common area and our rooms. We were graciously treated to some wonderful breakfasts while there (cheesy grits, peach bread pudding with caramel sauce, yogurt cups with fresh fruit and granola, quiche, bacon, sausage links, ham & egg sliders, a variety of quick breads, croissants, juice and coffee). There were snacks available for us during the day which included individual wrapped candies, chips, cookies, bottled water, etc. Although we were in walking distance of the French Quarter we took an Uber due to the heat and parking very limited. The highlight of the trip: World War II Museum - Civil War Museum - Beignets - Mule Carriage Ride through the French Quarter. The hospitality of Jonell was delightful. Thank you Jonell for taking us under your wing and helping us enjoy the sights of New Orleans. An electric art collection adorned the walls. We spent happy moments enjoying these unique creations. There were board games and books available for us which we appreciated. There was a swimming pool and hot tub which we did not utilize. One thing we missed was coffee in the evenings but we found coffee shops just minutes away from the B&B. We felt the cost was very reasonable for the area.

"The place lives up to the website!"

10.0

This B&B is really that pretty! We stayed in the Balcony Suite, and it was worth the splurge and climb (you get to it by an outdoor spiral staircase). The room is spacious and the large bathroom has double sinks and a gorgeous blue-tiled shower, and sitting on the balcony in the evening is the best. The ceiling fans mean you don't have to crank the a/c to be comfortable, and updated windows and french doors mean a quiet night in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The common rooms are beautiful and welcoming. Breakfast is delicious and varied, but always with fresh fruit and early coffee. Jonell was our enthusiastic innkeeper, always ready to help and make our stay as comfortable as possible. They ask for your arrival time, but that is because the gate is kept locked, so they are alert for when you are expected. The neighborhood is fine, we never felt unsafe, but who wants to be outside with luggage? You get a key, so you can come and go as you please. Definitely one of the loveliest places we have stayed in.

"Sweet Olive was perfect for us"

10.0

We loved our recent stay at Sweet Olive! Jonell was so welcoming and served some yummy, unique breakfast dishes. Our room (the Cypress) was lovely and so comfy. The landscaping is gorgeous, and the house was filled with beautiful artwork, furniture and décor. The pool was wonderful for mid-afternoon breaks. And the location couldn’t be beat; we were in easy walking distance from so many great neighborhood places plus Frenchmen Street and the Rampart/St. Claude streetcar. We’ll most definitely be back!

"Quiet Relaxing Oasis in the Marigny"

10.0

We booked a night for a mini-staycation and couldn't be happier with out experience. We checked in to the Sweet Olive room at 3pm and was given a tour of the place and the pool area. After a dinner out we came back to use the pool and have a few drinks before bed. It was the quiet, comfortable, relaxing night we were looking for, plus there was a great little breakfast set up from 8 to 10am. We'll be recommending this oasis in the heart of a bustling neighborhood to everyone.
