Royal Chambers Serviced Apartments

Location close to hospital, cathedral. Beautiful building. It is clear that this started as a very nicely appointed apartment but it's been allowed to deteriorate (apartment 5). I did complain about the shower as soon as I saw it and the host... to her credit... did not quibble when I requested 25% refund.

Shower didn't work and as I arrived late-ish on Friday and left early on Monday, there was no one to fix it. The radiators had a good few years of dust accumulation in the grills, so that when they came on, dust swirled around. The kitchen tops hadn't been wiped, dirty pans, microwave and cutlery, area round fridge not clean. Kitchen cupboard door hanging off, Lots of damage to kitchen surfaces/cupboards. The door security lock was extremely loose and could easily have been ripped off. Some of the blinds didn't open in the bedrooms. Only one usable mirror, which was located in the bathroom (tough of people wanted to get ready at the same time - it sleeps 4 but I was alone, so that wasn't an issue) but it's a lovely mirror.

For the most part the apartment was clean and tidy, amenities were good plenty storage space, coffee and tea supplied and little milk pod were on the fridge, plates, cups glasses and mugs provided and a little terrace area with lovely views in my opinion.

We had a lovely time however we felt like there was a fair amount of dust, enough to trigger the allergies from 2 of us (there were 4 of us including myself and I was 1 of the 2 with dust allergies), there was hair on one of the beds (found on Friday night before we went to bed) and the en-suite bathroom’s radiator was leaking when we arrived. This last one was manageable but not ideal so definitely worth a look. Also one of the towels provided by accommodation turned out to be absolutely stained and only realised after my friend came out the bathroom wearing it. Contact with the person that manages the property is also really difficult.

Fahrstuhl vorhanden und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Die Lage ist top. Man kommt zu Fus sehr gut ins Zentrum und Glasgow Cathedral ist direkt um's Eck. Sehr großer Fernseher mit gutem Medienangebot und auch das Bad war neuer saniert und soweit sauber. 2 Schlafzimmer mit Einbauschränken waren sehr gut. Kleiderbügel, Fön, Wäacheständer und Waschmaschine vorhanden.

Diverse Gebrauchspuren. Tische wackeln (musste von uns repariert werden), Böden sehr uneben und teilweise kaputte Oberflächen, sodass Türstopper von Türen nicht gehalten haben und diese unten bereits abgeschlagen waren. In den Ecken lag staub. Teilweise Boden unsauber verlegt und kaputte Tapeten. Bei uns war zwae die Küche geputzt, aber ein Müllbeutel von vorher vergessen worden (lag direkt auf einem Stuhl). In einer Kammer, wäre gut für Jacken und Schuhe gewesen, befand sich ein kaputtes Regal. Schade.

Wir haben die Unterkunft gemeinsam mit meinen Eltern gebucht. Leider war bereits der Check-in sehr umständlich und frustrierend. Zusätzlich zu Booking mussten wir uns noch auf einer externen Seite verifizieren und unsere Kreditkarte hinterlegen, was technisch nicht reibungslos funktioniert hat. Die Unterkunft selbst war leider sehr kalt. Die Heizung funktionierte überhaupt nicht, und auch die bereitgestellte Anleitung bzw. der Zeitplan haben nicht geholfen. Es war durchgehend kalt, und wir haben gefroren. Unser Hinweis darauf wurde leider nicht ernst genommen, und es wurde keine Lösung angeboten. Außerdem gab es zu wenige Handtücher (nur zwei für drei Personen). Einige Möbel waren beschädigt, und der Kleiderschrank im Schlafzimmer war so instabil, dass er nicht nutzbar war. Die Parksituation ist ebenfalls schwierig: Die Parkplätze vor der Unterkunft sind kostenpflichtig und können meist nur für maximal drei Stunden genutzt werden, danach muss man das Fahrzeug umparken. Insgesamt ist die Unterkunft zwar optisch ansprechend, aber aufgrund der genannten Probleme würden wir sie weder erneut buchen noch weiterempfehlen. ⸻ 🇬🇧 English: We rented the accommodation together with my parents. Unfortunately, the check-in process was already very frustrating and complicated. In addition to Booking, we had to verify ourselves on an external website and provide our credit card details, which did not work smoothly at all. The accommodation itself was very cold. The heating did not work, and the provided instructions and schedule were not helpful. It was constantly cold, and we were freezing most of the time. When we reported this issue, it was not taken seriously and no solution was offered. There were also not enough towels provided (only two for three people). Some of the furniture was damaged, and the wardrobe in the bedroom was so unstable that it could not be used.

We booked two apartments for a competition weekend, specifically requiring fully functioning kitchens to support our athletes. Apartment 8 was not fit for purpose: Fridge was not working at all, meaning we could not safely store food required for athletes Freezer was unusable due to visible mould, posing a clear health risk (photo evidence available) No hot water for a full day Overall failure of basic, advertised kitchen facilities The impact was significant. This caused unnecessary stress and disruption for our athletes during an important competition, requiring both groups to change plans and manage around basic failures in the accommodation. We made repeated attempts to contact the property directly (Royal Chambers) during our stay (over eight calls, WhatsApp messages, emails, and messages via Booking.com), but received no response at the time.
