Humbug Cottage

Fantastic brownies on arrival along with milk, bread and butter plus lots of useful basics like washing up liquid, tea and coffee etc. The house is spotless and comfortable and we had everything we needed for our stay. Our elderly dad loved that it warmed up really fast when he put the heating on. Beds were comfy and location in heart of Much Wenlock was brilliant. Parking was nice and easy too.

The only slight disadvantage was access to loo/bathroom for those in bedroom without en-suite as we used all 3 bedrooms.

Beautifully done up cottage in the heart of pretty historic Much Wenlock. A few steps to everything the town has to offer including an exceptional meal at The Raven.

We had all 3 bedrooms occupied, so this meant one couple had to access the toilet and bathroom through an occupied bedroom.

Excellent property, spotless, fab location, didn’t want for anything and the chocolate brownies and milk a lovely touch! We will be back

I booked Humbug Cottage for my children/grandchildren to use as a base whilst visiting family in the area. I remember when it was the village shop, so it was a lovely experience to stay in this charmingly quaint 'landmark' house with its prime location being bang in the centre of this historic and picturesque little Shropshire town. It has been renovated beautifully! Julie, our host, was just perfect and following a brief conversation on the phone prior to our arrival, she provided us with a surprise basket of vegan essentials as well as a bottle of wine for us to enjoy after our long journey... very much appreciated! The kitchen was thoughtfully 'kitted out' and had everything you could wish for; the bathrooms modern, clean and gleaming white; the mattresses, sheets and fluffy white towels all excellent quality.... There are a handful of lovely old pubs in the town that serve food, and everything you need is literally a hop, skip and a jump away. Went to sleep to the sound of an owl hooting in the churchyard...super cozy and very peaceful. Oh...and our lovely host left us a couple of parking permits - so we were able to park in the cobbled street right outside the house. Thank you Julie! Your house is absolutely GORGEOUS and I will definitely book it again.

There was nothing not to like. I was informed in advance of the quirky lay-out of the bathrooms, but it is a quirky listed building so it was how I expected it to be and exactly why I booked it.

Great central location in Much Wenlock. Much Wenlock is a great place to stay, friendly pubs and interesting history also just a short drive from Ironbridge. The house is quite historic and interesting with lovely rooms and very well equipped for families or adults. The host Julie is super friendly and helpful if you need anything or have questions. Parking is easy either on the street outside or in the English Heritage car park 100m up the road using the car park passes provided. Lovely hamper on arrival!

Lacks outdoor space but there's plenty of outdoor space and a park just a very short walk away. Next to the church with the bells ringing each hour but not noticeable once you get used to it. A little overlooked from the street but there are good window blinds to keep privacy.

Absolutely beautiful little house. Very thoughtfully decorated and everything you need. I stayed for a business trip but intend going back with my family soon.
