Mountaineer Inn

The room was very nice, except for the balcony., but not worth what we paid.

The condition of the balcony was dangerous. Rotting wood. The pool and hot tub were not usable. There was no mention of that when I booked the room. In the photos they looked fully functional. We were there for 2 nights and only saw someone working there the morning we checked out. The day we checked in there was a party from Norway in the lobby trying to access their room and contact someone who worked there. They were very distressed. It was not a great reception.

Murky water in pool made it unusable. Comfy bed and room was clean. Building needs some updating but overall it was okay.

Expedia (or the property) misrepresented the distance from Manchester, stating it's 16.2 miles when it was actually 33 miles, many of which are winding mountain roads and even a stretch of gravel road. The overall property felt very tired. The absence of any staff is disconcerting. Fortunately, there were other guests.

I booked this hotel specifically because of the beautiful pool shown in the pictures, but what I found upon arrival was completely different. The pool was falsely advertised as open and usable—it was actually a murky green mess that looked like it hadn’t been maintained all summer. To make matters worse, the interior of the hotel was just as neglected. The hallways smelled musty, like the carpets hadn’t been cleaned in years. It gave the whole place a damp, rundown feeling that made the stay uncomfortable. Overall, this experience felt like a bait-and-switch. I expected a relaxing getaway, but instead was met with disappointment at every turn. Definitely not worth the money or the frustration

When I arrived, I was extremely disappointed that the pool, as advertised, was a gross green color. The hallways were musty-smelling. I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Quiet hotel, easy check in. Was disappointed that pool was not in working condition, should be explained at the website. Common areas inside are spacious and inviting to relax, read a book.

I think this place would have been fine if I didn't have higher expectations. Never saw any staff, check in and out was over the phone. That was weird. Pool was green. No breakfast options except tea and coffee. Only 2 towels for a three person reservation. Room was very small (and no fire place) Looks like a nice place in the winter when there are staff around.

1 Terrible. No one at front desk. Room smelled. Pool closed. AC not working. Paint on carpet. Uncomfortable bed. I would like a refund if possible. Thanks.
