This is a sweet spot. Surrounded by good food, bars, shopping and close to the beach. Staff is awesome, the breakfast is delicious and so was the coffee, they roast it themselves which I thought is a cool touch. Even if you don’t get a room here it’s worth the visit to stop by and enjoy some breakfast or a drink and live music at night

Great location, walking distance to everything. Very nice swimming pool, bar, restaurant and coffee shop. People were coming from all around to buy their coffee! Every one of the staff was very friendly and the recommendations for surf lessons and transportation was great pricing and people!

Agustin and the other staff at the hotel were great! Our room was lovely, pool and surrounding area was nice too. My friend and I would absolutely stay again, the breakfast included was a nice touch - thanks for having us!

Refugio Lodge- I can say it’s a hidden gem! Opened just about two months ago by four wonderful owners, this charming bed & breakfast exceeded all my expectations. Initially, I was concerned about the noise from the nightclub behind the property, as mentioned in other reviews. However, Augustin, one of the owners, reassured me it wouldn’t be an issue during this time of year. it wasn’t an issue for us at all! For two days before arrival, I chatted with Augustin. He patiently answered all my questions about the area, arranged transportation, and even helped us find a place of worship. From that moment, I knew Refugio had us at “Hello”! The entire staff was beyond wonderful and accommodating. They all made the stay unforgettable. Pablo makes a fantastic cup of coffee—piping hot, crafted with care, and brimming with love! Breakfast each morning was a delicious, traditional Costa Rican spread that kept us full through lunchtime. The property is small, but it’s nestled in a lush tropical setting. It’s a block from the beach and walking distance of everything happening in Tamarindo. The market and bank are just across the street, and restaurants are only minutes away. Evenings often featured a relaxed gathering of friendly visitors and locals in the bar area, with live nice music some nights. Refugio Lodge truly felt like home away from home.

This hostel is very nice, small and a great place to stay. The location is excellent, you can easily walk to all the good restaurants, and the beach is very close. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Agustin is a great host, along with the whole team. It has two restaurants, one as part of the hostel and another right next door with a great atmosphere and food. The rate includes a delicious breakfast.

Beautiful boutique hotel with a beautiful lounge and pool area. The breakfast and coffee was delicious. This place is run by a great group of locals who care about their guests having an authentic Costa Rican experience.

No major complaints besides bathroom or room smelling a bit like mildew. I stayed on a Saturday & music or noise was NOT a huge issue. Breakfast in the cafe was delicious as well!! Will visit again

La oveja was the perfect stay. The staff were very helpful in showing me around and the restaurant had some of the best food. It’s also in the best location in tamarindo.

This was a very different stay to my usual. But I still enjoyed it. The free breakfast was a great addition since Costa Rica - well Tamarindo was soooo expensive. Prices there were higher than what I pay in NY or at all inclusives. But the hotel was amazing. The pool was right outside my door. Staff was very friendly. Close to the nightlife. All in all if I ever go back to costa rica(probably not) this will be my go to hotel
