GLOBALSTAY New Fabulous Toronto Condo

Location and views were nice.

We'd been given instructions for check-in (enter code in to intercom, go to 16th floor, apartment would be unlocked, keys on table). We arrived after a long day of flight delays and reschedules, looking forward to getting out of the cold and dark and getting settled in. Tried to enter per instructions, the person on the intercom didn't seem to be able to hear or understand us. We received a message that the buzzer was glitching and to wait for their representative near the entrance. The non-english speaking representative turned up, handed me the keys, gestured that she wanted to take a photo of me holding the keys, which seemed a bit odd, then came with us up to the doorway of the apartment, before leaving. When we walked in, I immediately saw it didn't look like the apartment pictured on booking dot com. The floors were in terrible condition, with boards lifting up off the floor, gaps through which silver insulation could be seen, and made a horrible crackling/crunching noise when walked on, as though they had been water damaged and then dried out or something. The light switches to the bedrooms didn't work, and I got an electric shock from the one to the main bedroom. Only one of the bedside lamps in the main bedroom worked, with one of the lamps having the switch eroded/worn/snapped off. (Have left this one unplugged as it may be dangerous). I immediately messaged Globalstay on What's App, sent photos, and tried a video call, but it wasn't answered. I then called Globalstay customer care and discussed this with a representative, who was very polite but could only say that I needed to put it in an email. I did this. Again, the reply was very polite and advised that they were awaiting information from property management.

Good location, nice bedrooms

The staff were very unhelpful - tried to increase our deposit from $200 to $400 less than a week before because it was the “holidays”. If we didn’t have a 25-year old with our party then they told us it would be increased to $1000. Also, at check out you have to 1. Load laundry 2. Start dishwasher 3. Empty garbages etc. when we already paid $500 for 1 night Not impressed with Globalstay but booking.com was helpful

Lock on front door very stiff so hard to get in to apartment. Not easy to gain initial access to apartment as elevators too slow to arrive. Curtains falling off track and not wide enough to stop light getting in. Sofa bed not ready to use as it was still cable tied. Difficult to open as a result. If paying for cleaning we shouldn’t be expected to put things in wash at end of stay.
