Restaurant meals good but very small portions for very high prices

Had another great stay at Kona Village! We were with a group of 20 for a birthday party and everyone had a great time. The rooms were great and spacious like normal. We had rooms spread out so a few on the lagoon, one with a pond view, and one beachfront. They were all great in their own way. Shoutout to the private dinner crew and a special shoutout to Lona at the front desk who always welcomed us with a smile and was very helpful.

We just returned from our honeymoon at Kona Village, Rosewood and had an absolutely incredible stay. The entire experience was so relaxing and peaceful. The property is stunning, the vibe is quiet in the best possible way, and it truly felt like we were in our own little world. The staff was genuinely wonderful. Everyone we interacted with was warm, attentive, and made us feel so welcomed. We were actually shocked to read older reviews that mentioned concerns about service or attention to detail. Our experience was the complete opposite. Every touch felt thoughtful and effortless. Overall, it was a 10 out of 10 honeymoon for us. If you are looking for a beautiful, calm, and special place to unwind, Kona Village is a total gem. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

My birthday trip at Kona Village was absolute perfection. The staff, service, spa, and beachfront location were all exceptional. The hales make you feel completely immersed in nature in a way that even top resorts like 1 Hotel Hanalei can’t replicate. It was my second time on the Big Island and my first stay at Kona Village , definitely won’t be my last! 🌺

Fantastic visit. The Kona Village staff treat you as your part as if you’re part of the o’hana. Every single staff member all over the resort will stop and take time to help you and get you anything you need. We loved the adult only pool, the beach, activities, and the overall laid-back atmosphere. The dining was great whether you eat in one of their restaurants or room service. I'll start by saying the property is clearly beautiful, although some reviews have discussed lapses in service we did not experience any significant hiccups and found the staff to be for the most part very helpful and engaging. Resort Grounds: The individual units have real character, regardless of the location. We stayed in a Treetop King hale which is I think an underrated deal considering it's not marketed as an ocean view but has a reasonable vantage of the oceanfront and of the mountains from the outdoor shower. The interior bedroom is sufficient for couple and there is plenty of bathroom and patio space. The property is not huge by any means and all the attractions are easily walkable or bikeable, though buggy service is available on request. Overall I think the room product is the best on this side of the big island and superior to what I could gather at Four Seasons next door, unless one is traveling with a larger family. Food: If there is one thing that is relatively lacking it would be the availability of restaurants. Not all options are available for each meal or every day of the week, so I do recommend planning ahead when deciding where to dine a certain night. Fortunately, with FS next door, it is easy to pop over and have a meal when one isn't available at Kona. For breakfast, getting more than a couple items a la carte adds up to nearly as much as the buffet, so it may just be easier to do the latter. Pricing is expectedly high for this caliber of lodging. Activities: The pools are beautiful and well maintained. The beachfront is pretty, and the water is calm and fine for swimming, boating, and snorkeling with or without the assistance of the activities team (Kilo Kai). I definitely encourage the complimentary snorkel, sailing, and paddling sessions. All the Kilo Kai staff, especially Cam and Pu, were very accommodating in getting us timely activities, even working in a last minute sailing session before we departed the property, so I do want to mention this specifically. Gym and spa are fairly standard, but were not as high a priority during this trip given the abundance of outdoor options. Service: Some people had reported lapses in service, but perhaps this was earlier in the life of the property or a busier season. The staff was friendly and responsive, when we had an issue with the bathroom it was promptly resolved. The management knew it was our baby-moon and adjusted the amenities accordingly, with a nonalcoholic sparkling beverage and a thoughtful resort themed onesie for our future child. Overall, Kona Village provides an excellent hard product with plenty of activities and what appears to be much improved service.

I rarely stop to write reviews, I’m a busy executive who travels often and has been fortunate to stay at some of the world’s finest resorts, from Michelin 3 Key properties to iconic destinations across continents. But Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort moved me in a way few places ever have. As a business owner, it’s almost impossible for me to fully disconnect, yet from the moment I arrived here, I felt a profound sense of peace, a deep equanimity that I felt in my soul. The setting is breathtaking in every direction, but it’s more than that. It’s the feeling this place gives you, of being truly present, connected, and grateful to be part of this beautiful planet. The staff radiates genuine warmth and ease, every detail feels effortless, from beach amenities to the way every path leads to beauty. The food is exceptional, and the wine pairings were spot on. The snorkeling in the protected cove is some of the best I’ve seen anywhere in Hawaii, vibrant, alive, and surprisingly untouched. For as many times as I’ve visited Hawaii, this place still feels like an undiscovered gem. In truth, I hesitated to write this review because I don’t want the secret to spread too far. But it deserves every bit of praise. I’m usually someone who always looks for new places, life is short, but this is the one resort I’ll return to again and again. In fact, I just completed my second visit within three months. Kona Village isn’t just a resort, it’s a reminder of how beautiful life can be when everything aligns, place, people, and peace.
