Charming 2 bedroom apartment in Gorgie

Bit shabby and smelly, 60 stairs to apartment, a few broken things

Location was good, with lots of restaurants and supermarkets around. And it was pretty close to Haymarket, so lots of buses and trains.

Apartment was on the third floor with no elevator, and stairs to the apartment were old and dirty. Shower was a bit weird, would’ve been nice to have some instructions on how it worked.

Everything. As you enter the building, through a dragging front door, you are greeted by a dim hallway with peeling, flaking paint on the walls and ceiling. The floor and stairs haven't been cleaned in ages. You expect addicts and homeless to appear. There is no lift, only a narrow spiral , winding staircase to drag your suitcase up to the final 3rd-4th floor unit, yep, your apartment. The shower gets stuck on hot or cold and hard to find warm level. The toilet is in a tiny separate room with a toilet seat that slides around. The kitchen is a makeshift arrangement about 18 inches wide barely wide enough to open the oven door and lower cabinet doors. plus dimly lit.

hard to get in contact with host, didnt recieve email with code to key-box before the day of check in, got the email the next day. had to call multiple times

The place looking totally different to the photos. The 160 step spiral staircase that was not mentioned. The smell. The company wouldn't take responsibility as apparently the page did not mention it was 'disabled friendly' and because they sent me a video tour of the place an hour before check in. - not helpful as we had flown in 12 hours before! I had to find somewhere else to stay the same evening as we could not stay there at all. My Dad has COPD and walks with a stick so the stairs were a no go. So I am now out of pocket and a whole evening of our short time away was ruined. The company told me they would give me 50% refund and have now ignored all my communication. Luckily booking.com are looking into it for me.
