Casa Maya

The rooms were nicely sized. We were in a room with a full size bed and a twin size bed. The bathroom was big and spacious. However, they have reusable bottles mislabeled for shampoo and body wash. There was no travel size which usually looks more presentable than what they had. They didnt have any soap for the rooms and the rooms didnt come with complimentary water bottles like other hotels Ive been at. The restaurant waitress took their sweet time in taking our order, serving drinks (we had to ask them to bring them before our meal as we were thirsty). They didn't offer bottles of water. And to get their attention or find them, took a while. There were not a lot of people there. They gave me food I didn't order and yet had to pay for cause she “misheard.” They didnt seem to care to be friendly or try to appease customers with great customer service. I will not be going back. They do offer a day pass for use of pool and beach.

I enjoyed my staying there owner and staff relay friendly and really helpful we have so much fun there I love the chairs in the beach and the view I’ll def come back

MARCH 2025 3 night stay. Traveling with 77 yr old mother and 70 year old aunt and uncle. I expressed my concerns upon arrival but could not be accommodated because there really aren’t accessible rooms. Admittedly I did not mention there might be an accessibility issue. My mother was having difficulty getting to the 2nd level room. Also the walkways are too steep and treacherous. The property does not clarify the locations of the rooms. Neither Casa Maya nor Hotels.com were helpful when I requested cancellation for the remaining 2 nights. I had to find different accommodations in Sunzal. The reception is a simple outdoor desk near the building where the rooms are. The rooms are basic/ economy style. Not worth the cost. The service is lacking. Very small/ overworked staff. Only good service was from the “porter” who had to carry heavy luggage up the stairs. We tipped him well. Pool needed cleaning. Ordered beers but it took 40 minutes and it was not busy on a Thursday afternoon. Beers were $14 and never returned change from $20. Access to the black sand beach on site. Caves near by to explore but dangerous as well as rough waves. Horseback ride available for $15 /15 minutes. Nice sunset. Resort is just ok. Not luxury. Even for a fit person the entire property is a tripping hazard. Not recommended for those with accessibility issues so beware. Would not recommend. Overall disappointing

Area when you pull up is sketchy and looks unsafe-trashy. The grounds were not cared for. The rooms were dirty and not nice at all.

This place was amazing the food was the best.Room was clean & decorated for a birthday celebration. The entire staff was amazing from our drivers Luis & Charly Also Carlos Envidro , they were very friendly attentive and went above and beyond to make our stay memorable .

I would definitely change the pillows…my Lord it felt as if I had a cement block underneath…too high, too hard 😦
