Casa Maya

Casa Maya offers an unprecedented local experience to the traveller, both local and foreigner, without the boredome a regular Resort would give. Additionally the property is located in excellent prime beach real estate, the beach being the cleanest and clearest of all the El Sunzal Beach. The owner has really done his very best to offer a one of a kind experience. The rooms are superbly cleaned, and even have scent atomizers installed, making the rooms smell always fresh! The best: 1. Food is superbly tasty, as it is made to order. The wait time for the food (except breakfast) is long, but well worth it considering one is in vacation mode and enjoying the amazing coastal view. 2. Rooms are very clean, always smell fresh, and the adornment on the bed is quite sweet. 3. The night stroll and safety around the beach is just idyllic. So romantic to appreciate with my wife the night summer skies on the beach. Areas to work on: 1. unless the owner is around, some staff seem a little too easy going, could have a little more sense of urgency. Also, its not good to charge 1.10 USD just to add a few drops of milk to the complimentary coffee. Pleaae change this practice. 2. A guy (not the owner, since the owner is very profesional) wanted to charge me 35 USD to go into my room early despite the hotel having it ready and not busy with guests. Luckily I did not end up paying it but this should be addressed. We will be back so soon. Rating 9.5/10!!!

Had to ask for extra towels and the coffee does not include creamer with a up charge and the staff is not very friendly…lots of small bugs in the room and the bar and restaurant closes at 8pm

This property has a sort of low key, not fancy, resort vibe. It has more resort-type facilities than the typical Sunzal Apartment-Hotels; but a very unpretentious decor. The views are great; the pool is adequate; they play easygoing music most of the day, which adds to the resort vibe staff is super helpful and friendly. It's right on a great beach for walking and playing. That beach also has a couple of thatched-roof restaurants. But I actually never tried any of them, because the on-premises restaurant was fantastic. If you're looking to surf the Sunzal break (as I did most days), then I must say it's a very long paddle to get there. Alternately it's a long walk over uncomfortable rocks - I chose the paddle. I also rented a motorcycle so that I could get to El.Tunco easily. Overall this hotel/resort is a great value.

Great place! We loved our stay. Room was nice and clean and the fact that breakfast is included was a great plus! This hotel is beachfront and the beach is nice and swimmable. Many other hotels claim to be beachfront but their beach is full of rocks or they are on a cliff so you can't enjoy the beach. This hotel has a nice beach and it's not busy. Thank you! We will be back!

I had a very good experience! Staff super friendly, rooms are comfortable, place is beautiful and clean with an amazing view to the ocean.

My husband and I stayed at Casa Maya and had a wonderful experience. Obidio, Marjorie, Ulises, Karla and Charlie were so nice and attentive during our stay. The restaurant has a lot of delicious dining options. Enjoyed the beach access on the property as well.
