The staff was great, very attentive

Sometimes, bugs would come in the room due to the hotel being close to.the.beach

We stayed at Alma in early June at the start of the season and it was by far the best hotel that we have stayed in. The staff from the beginning were so warm and accommodating and the rooms were cleaned to a high standard twice a day. The staff that I got to know in very well were Simba, Mustafa, Susan & Judah, it was a true honour to meet and get to know them. The two ladies whose name I didn’t catch who work in the morning & sometimes evening shift were amazing and I cannot fault their efforts and kindness to us. We stayed on a half-board basis and the food prepared by Chef Mswahili and his team was exceptional and always fresh. The menu for dinner was imaginative, wholesome and cooked to a high standard. Typically I would not eat at hotels too often as the food usually does not give an authentic experience of local cuisines however, the chef and his team have entirely changed my mindset. The manager Maurizio and his wife were outstanding and are a terrific example of how to run a hotel. Being able to use the Alma boat (free of charge) was an experience that I will never forget. All in all, the staff really made our trip and I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and dedication. We will certainly be back one day.

I liked that it was right on the beach. The staff was super friendly and the dinner and breakfast was superb, loved that they had freshly made mango or pineapple juice in the morning.

Nothing that the hotel can do something about and it seems to be a thing at Zanzibar, but I missed a little supermarket or something close by. But the hotel offered to do shopping for us if anything was missing.

Very friendly staff Lovely and quiet place with amazing food. Manager greeted and welcomed us for every meal. Hopefully one day will comeback!

Meals were delicious and fresh and nice choice of food. Resort management very friendly and helpful. staff all very professional and attentive. Small amount of rooms means the stay was quiet and peaceful. Good wifi. Rooms so close to the sand really has a lovely island feel.

water pressure was a bit faulty occasionally but management rectified quickly.

Alma Butique Hotel is an excellent place for people who want to detox and relax in a calm environment. Hotel is small (around 30 guests maximum; we benefitted even from the smaller presence) and with its beautiful garden guarantees privacy. It was open in 2022 so rooms have a brand new tasteful (boho style) equipment. The polite and kind houskeeping ensured that rooms an teracces were clean, drinking water supplied regularly (in big glass bottles) and we had a choice of teas (we could prepare them having a kettle) as well as coffee and coffee machine. The joint pool (we had also a small private one) allows swimming during low tide. Breakfasts were very good, notably as concerns warm dishes from the menu, prepared upon our requests. We loved having long breakfasts followed with a coffee at the terrace while enjoying the beatiful view at the garden and ocean with a gentle and warm breeze. The staff was very nice and always helpful (notably as concerns organizing excursions and transfer). One of us benefitted from spa (excellent masagge!).

For a longer stay (we spent at the hotel 8 nights), a slight change in dinner menu to diversify dishes would increase people's happiness. More light in the bathroom to see the face better in the mirror would also be appreciated, notably by women :-)
