"Hotel stays are soon forgotten, but we will always remember our stay on the river."

10.0

We stayed just one night as part of my partners 50th birthday celebrations. We've stayed in many hotels but I wanted something a little more special close to where we live. The barge was a great choice. It was every bit as good as it looks in the pictures. Amazingly roomy and so completely different and original. We absolutely loved it. The location to the town is perfect. Two or three minutes strolling gets you into the town centre, where there are a number of restaurants and several pubs to choose from. The barge is easily big enough to spend an entire holiday and we left wishing we were staying longer.

I really cannot find fault. The only thing maybe worth a mention, and it may actually be written somewhere in the information, is that some of the steps to gain access are quite high, and the staircase from the wheel house into the living area is fairly steep. I have to say these points were zero bother to us, but may well be to some older or infirm visitors. This is not a criticism at all, just an observation.

"Great night away with a difference"

10.0

Lovely barge, very clean and nicely maintained. Excellent instructions and communication. In a great location too. Overall a good fun and different night away in very pleasant surroundings

We liked the quirkiness and some extra small challenges of being on a boat. If you are not a hands-on person and looking for luxury pampering, it may not be for you. Our only small issue was a loud pump coming on randomly twice overnight for 15 minutes- again part of being on a boat so definitely not a complaint, just something to consider if that would bother you

"A great experience of river barge life. It requires a bit more effort and time to navigate the barge and get off and on"

9.0

We have never stayed on a barge before and having done so now it was a great experience. Good facilities, a beautiful setting, perfectly located for accessing everything that Sandwich has to offer. Living on a barge is not and should not be a replica of staying in a hotel or renting a cottage. It’s attraction is that it’s different and it is. Tricky flights of stairs, noisy floors, low ceilings and places to bump our heads are all part of the experience.

There was nothing to dislike once we accepted that life on a barge floating on the river stour is not like staying in a hotel. Once we got that, it was great.

"I wouldnt hesitate to recommend anyone to stay on the barge. We stayed when the weather was a bit cold but it was snug i"

10.0

Beautiful boat. Tastefully decorated. Fun to be on. Great location in sandwich. Well equipped, washing up liquid, condiments, sewing bits and bobs, shower accessories (although we didnt need them) but a nice thought anyway. We also met the owners, very friendly people, who stay on the barge themselves sometimes.

Loved it all really. One minor thing, could have done with a small coffe table for the lounge area.

"lovely location but stay elsewhere"

4.0

Fantastic location in beautiful Sandwich

We arrived in rainy weather and window was leaking. Owners had tried to correct but unfortunately for us didn’t. We were informed at 16.50 that there was an issue. The floors in general were filthy and owners blamed water leak for that. The gangplank is hazardous, especially in wet conditions with a low tide. There is no rigid handrail to give you support even though pictures on website indicate otherwise. When our safety concerns were voiced to owners, they supplied no response. Very poor as this is a hazard and should be immediately rectified.
