Immaculate stay in the hakone area with ZEN. We settled on ZEN as a retreat in middle of our honeymoon Japan trip for 2 days and although expensive, the staff will treat you like royalty. It was a quiet relaxing retreat with a large room, relaxing hot spring bath and top of the line service. The kaiseki meals were easily the best we've ever had and was absolutely the top highlight of our Japan trip.

The ryoukan is a ways out from the main town and a 15 minute walk from the nearest bus station. They have a shuttle service but make sure to coordinate ahead of when you arrive to use it effectively.

We liked everything.

... except for the fact that the location is a bit in the middle of nowhere, but if it is peace you seek, then this place is for you!

Lovely room, onsen, food and excellent service. Could see Mt Fuji from our room.
