aha Makalali Private Game Lodge

The dinner and breakfast was great with a wide range of food The aesthetics of the game lodge was really pretty and the pool was relaxing They provided us with a celebratory bottle for our engagement

- We arrived and there was glass on the bathroom floor along with hair in the shower - it was obvious it had not been cleaned well - When we arrived at the gate of the reserve and were told that we needed to have one of the trackers in our car as “he needed to get to the lodge for the start of his shift” it was unnerving for two women to have a stranger in our car understandable we may have needed a member of staff drive in front and direct us however would not have expected to do their job and have him in our car. It wasn’t clear he was staff as he was wearing casual clothing and not sure he was actually staff. - We visited the pool and requested some towels however didn’t receive any. When enquired a couple of times the staff would pick up the phone to basically ignore us and not deal with the problem - unfortunately we were on a game drive with Germans and a German tour guide and so they spoke German the whole way through. The Makalali guide didn’t speak as the German tour guide took over (in German) - We ordered drinks for our sunset game drive which one was given to the German Tour Guide (why would a worker get a drink before clients?) and the other was not packed so was offered a can of wine between the both of us. Unfortunate that this was disorganised and actually impacted negatively on our experience. - Value for money - for what you pay the reserve is quite large and not enough animals to see. One game drive we spent two hours driving in burned area with the tracker not taking much interest and it was clear there would be no animals in this area. The tracker didn’t seem knowledgeable on where to go or invested in us seeing some good animals

Game drive guides were excellent. Wildlife sightings were great!

Game drive and staff interaction with my husband's birthday were five star. The pool setting and view (with champagne) were first class.

Amazing.

Every thing: friendly staff, great location, good food , gamedrives in the morning and the evening, rangers go that extra mile. The wildlife!!! Not cheap but nevertheless fantastic

not paying attention to small details, litter around unit, smell from the bathroom the pick up vehicle on arrival was dirty with empty cans of beer no welcome drinks on arrival

Words cannot describe this experience. All staff were very attentive and welcoming, happy! The room has a great view to the savanna, and sometimes you can even see some elephants taking a bath on the small puddle. Everything was perfect!

Exceptional service. A shoutout to Lovie, Isaac, Wendy, Floyd , Suzette and the chef! Everyone was outstanding. I highly recommend Aha makalali lodge. We saw all of the big five.
