Higher Melcombe Manor

Sehr besonderes und historisches Gebäude. Landschaftlich besondere Lage. Tiere unweit z.B. freundliche drei Hunde, Pferde, Kühe, etc. Die Gastgeber haben extrem flexibel auf meine Bedürfnisse reagiert und ich durfte bspw. in deren Küche mitkochen. Für die Zeit meines Aufenthaltes habe ich mich als Teil dieser Familie gefühlt.

Mein Zimmer war etwas zugig, aber auch das haben meine Gastgeber verändert und ich konnte in ein anderes Zimmer umziehen.

Lovely hosts and great breakfast.

The room was very hot and stuffy, bed very small and uncomfortable with restrictive metal frames on the sides. No tv in room, it was shared with another room as was kettle. Two sets of steep stairs to climb up and drag luggage. Unpleasant smell and damp and dogs. Bulb out in bathroom so very dark. Very coarse carpet.

The property is incredible. It has centuries of fascinating history, and the accommodation is very comfortable and clean as a whistle.

The location was perfect and was great for all the places we had planned to visit. It was lovely being away from the hustle & bustle of life. It was so peaceful, just the sound of nature around us. We had a lovely walk through The Dorsetshire Gap. The owners Nicky & Simon were so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were so filling that we didn't need to eat lunch. We wouldn't think twice about staying there again!

Dorset tranquillity with exemplary attention to their guests. I am almost reluctant to endorse this special rural experience as I can't keep it to myself, but they deserve me sharing that I left recharged and better placed to return to my everyday life. Simon and Nicky, family, pets, and livestock are a force for good. I'm grateful they share this life and their lovely historic property with visitors. Whatever your tastes, they are met with a magnificent breakfast selection. This family run part of their hard- working wider farming business offers the rest of us a treat off the beaten track. In fact, if you need to concentrate on your writing, perhaps a project, this is a great base.

That I didn't find this gem sooner, that I will have to wait to return.
