Shipwrecked Hostel

Wunderschön gestaltetes Hostel, Bequeme Betten, Freundliche Volunteers und netter Schwatz mit dem Besitzer. Supermarkt direkt gegenüber. Haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Die Auffahrt zum Hostel und Parkplatz ist etwas steil und schotterig. Mit Zug kommt man gut gut hoch, aber man braucht Schwung.

We really enjoyed our time at this hostel in Uvita. The location is directly on the main road, which was perfect for us since we had rented a car. It’s easy to find and very convenient as a base for exploring the area. The hostel itself is very clean and nicely decorated, and we appreciated the attention to detail — even small touches like a pleasant scent in the room and an essential oil diffuser made the space feel welcoming. We stayed in a dorm that offered a large bed suitable for couples, which we really liked. The beds were comfortable, had their own power sockets, and offered a good level of privacy, making the stay very comfortable overall.

What we slightly missed was a more social atmosphere. Although there are several common areas, which is usually a positive aspect, they felt a bit too spacious for the number of guests staying there. As a result, it didn’t naturally encourage interaction as much as we had hoped, and it was easier for people to keep to themselves. Aside from that, we don’t have any real negative points and would gladly stay here again when visiting Uvita.

La atención del equipo (sobre todo de Jayne and Imy) fue muy amorosa. En principio ibamos a quedarnos solo dos noches y nos quedamos dos más. Amamos el estilo y la decoración del lugar, se nota que todo fue pensado y bien diseñado. Fue la cama más cómoda que nos tocó en Costa Rica. Las instalaciones de Shipwrecked son de alta calidad, tienen todo lo necesario para desayunar, almorzar y cenar ahi mismo. La cercania del supermercado BM (un poco caro pero muy completo) fue genial. Si bien todos los espacios son compartidos, se puede tener privacidad tanto para dormir como para bañarse. Por otro lado, Uvita nos encantó! No dejen de hacer el tour de avistamiento de ballenas.

There wasn’t anything we didn’t like!

The hostel is absolutely pristine & the staff is excellent. We particularly loved that the dorms/ bunks were essentially little cabins which gave you plenty of privacy & comfort sleeping. There is also ample space to store all your luggage & lockers have keys provided which is a big plus. The kitchen is well equipped & super clean.

The location is a little far from the beach. Didn't bother us much as we had a car but worth noting if you are travelling without a car. The hostel does rent out bikes though.

The property was very relaxing and incredibly close to everything. It made walking very easy. All of the recommendations were incredible and the people staying there were all lovely. I was actually there for 3 nights before I extended for another.

Super gezellig hostel en ook nog eens leuk ingericht. In de slaappods kan je je super goed terugtrekken en heb je veel privacy. Ook helpt het personeel je echt overal mee met alle liefde.

De dormroom opent en sluit met geluidjes, dat was soms wel storend.
